So about 2 weeks ago I went over to my local Ducati dealer for some fairing bolts for the Panigale and I’ve been swithering about selling it. Reason being I bought a KTM super duke r last year and it’s so much fun, the Panigale hardly gets any used anymore (260 miles since it’s mot last year) and been thinking about something more suitable for leaving in Spain for the roads. They’ve got a beautiful Streetfighter SP in which I thought was perfect and after test riding one a couple of years ago I thought I’d have it. Unfortunately we couldn’t get a deal done as the dealer wouldn’t take my bike as pert ex with the Termi 4Uscite exhaust fitted and no standard exhaust to go with it. That got me looking around at bikes and I seen that there were some really good deals to be had on new 2024 model S1000Rs with the new 25 model hitting showrooms. The deal I managed to pick up on this brand new S1000R Sport was so good that I’ve managed to hang onto the Panigale for the odd blast when I feel like it. Bikes being delivered in a couple of weeks and I’m looking forward to planning a road trip over to Spain with it in the summer.
Mate has had 3 of these and rated all them highly, he bought the M1000R as his last with every option on and loved. Enjoy.
Had an earlier version and rated it. Cant be sure without a back to back test, but I think it was quicker than the Superduke. All at ten million revs though. Had mine maxed out on a ‘closed’ road in the Spanish Pyrenees, thought I had run out of petrol and realised it was the limiter! They handle lovely and have the benefit of being able to manually set the sag, unlike some electronic suspenders on other bikes.
Cracking bike, that. I had one of the first ones in 2014, I think it was. It was crackers, as I had the full system on it.
I had a 2018 one on the M colours with the forged rims. Really enjoyed it, tad short geared in 6th. It was mint and don't really know why I sold it. Bit fugly from the front. 24 model fixed all that I think.
Aye they’re not the best looking bikes but neithers the KTM and that doesn’t bother me you soon forget about the looks when you ride them
Got the gen 1 in 2014 when it was first introduced.Fitted the full Akra system, carbon wheels etc. Screamer of an engine but not a very relaxing ride.Had it for four years so I'm not knocking it but I much prefer the 1200 monster I currently have. The engine on the monster in my opinion as so much more character to it, plus nothing beats the noise coming from the Termis Horses for courses.
@carson you dodged a bullet not touring on a Streetfighter. I toured mine last year and the fuel range was absolutely dire with the light coming on just after 80 miles. It was even worse than the Tourno’s with us. I spent most days riding in wet mode just to eek out every mile.
I got the bellypan off eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14426624...ic8dRfbTHK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I made up a template for the Bellypan then sent the decal design to a company who came up with the sticker. https://crispydesigns.co.uk/collect...-bmw-k63-s1000r-m-style-engine-spoiler-decals He would alter they colours to suit your bike if you ask.
Nice bike Rob. I got loaned one in Northern Ireland a couple of years back. Couldn’t stop playing with the anti stall device Strong engine, Christ… I much preferred my SDR for hoonage mind you…
I definitely think the SDR will be more fun and I almost bought the new 1390 instead but the beemer was a great deal with the new model just being released. Plus the beemer will be a road only bike for Spain so needed an all rounder really
SD more fun? Depends on your attitude to revs. S1r was a constant of gear changing, but better balanced (lifting the back wheel going in to a corner on the brakes..) in a way the SD can only dream of. SD more torque, but with a surprisingly narrow ‘power’ band imo. Had many slides from the back end on the KTM, the S1 was just glued to the road and way more trustworthy.
That is the most mental man math ever couldn't work a trade on my panigale so i bought a whole new bike and kept the panigale, amazing
