1200 New Bike :)

  1. Just traded in my 2011 for a 2014 MTS S. Only issue the wifey says the pillion seat is firmer that the 2011 model. Anyone tell me if the touring seat is much softer or point me in the direction of a company that can so custom seats for a softy.

PS Fatdusc and Ohlins SCU for sale in sale section, also selling a sat nav mount. Pics to follow

  2. Sargent seats are the Cadillac of the arse and give all day comfort, they are not cheap though. During my experimentation I found the DP comfort/touring seat only fractionally better than stock.

I am sure similar results can be achieved with an upholsterer to modify the stock ones, or possibly an Airhawk if you want a temporary add-on solution.

  3. Front seats ok as I have a , urm..... An amply padded arse shall we say, Sargent rear looks the ideal solution. Cheers Psy

  4. Fit an airhawk seat for her.

  5. Tell her to get her own bike :)

  6. Cycling shorts

  7. I have Sargent, perfect comfort, although wider than standard. I think you have to buy both, as not sure if they fit mixed with standard seats.

  8. Thanks guys, looking into both options, currently having fun on a loan diavel whilst mine is being prepped and alarmed. Impressed with the diavel, on my options list for when wife has had enought of touring. Will clock a few miles this weekend and she how she gets on with the seat, watch this space

  9. If the 2011 pillion seat was OK have you tried fitting one to the later bike?

  10. I believe they are different, the later bikes were given more sitting space for the rider so not interchangeable

  11. I have a 2013 bike which I fitted the Ducati performance seats from earlier model as I found the standard seats really hard! You will need to change the little aluminium post that engages into the rear seat pad. They are about £10 if I remember correctly!

  12. Wrong....
All my seats 2010-2013 MTS1200, 4 different styles fit my new 2013 twin Spark bike.
I've tried every combination, including mixing old and new seats.

I think the issue may be trying to fit a new style seat (twins spark) on to an older bike.

  13. Not strictly correct ACT.

yes the seats from early and late are interchangeable, and will fit both earlier and later bikes as long as the correct locating peg is used, but you can't mix a late pillion seat with an early rider seat.
this is because the early seats have a through hole for the long locating peg. if you fit this seat with a later pillion seat, the peg will be exposed.
The later riders seat has a blind hole in it and requires the shorter peg (or to cut down the earlier one).

Pictures of both types - early and late, fitted to both a 2010 and a 2012, are on AndyW's smugmug site somewhere, as I provided side by side comparisons of the seats.

    Hope that helps.

  14. That's a very long winded way to completely agree with what I said!

  15. I havent fully agreed.
The point is, a later pillion seat on an earlier riders seat will leave the left mounting peg exposed, and it looks shite.
In all other respects I agree ;)

  16. I've both bikes here and all the seats, which would you like pictured?:Cigar:

As I said on the 2013-2014 bike can accept all seat variants without an issue.
If you try fitting a new 2013 seat on and 2020-2012 bike then there is a problem.

How is that DIFFERENT to what you said?:Banghead:

  17. Oh my what have I started, just want my wife's bum to stay nice and peachy!!

  18. If it is anything like the front .........

  19. Once upon a time but don't tell I said that!!!

  20. While I've both bikes and all the seats anyone want to ask a question (I don't have a sarjents seat...but the better Saddleman).
