New Boot Time Thinking Daytona Evo Voltex

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by kwack, Jan 16, 2015.

  1. Always had sidi vertigo or similar sidi boots...worn daily for 8 months of year so sole is hanging off and look realreal scruffy

Was thinking of trying the daytona boots as they can be rebuilt if thats the right word rather than lump out £200 odd every 3 or so years

Anyone got experience of daytona boots and what the rebuilds are like i guess sole etc

    Cheers

  2. I've been wearing Road Stars for 3 years. Except for a zip replacement after an off, boots are still in great condition and 100% waterproof and IMO the best boot I have ever worn. I wear Evo Sports on the track and love them. Would I wear the Evos for the road ? No as I don't find the boot flexible enough nor are they great to walk in. If you are keen on the newer Evo Voltex, I would advise trying them on before committing. I'm a genuine UK 11/EU 46 but wear an EU 47 in the Road Star and an EU 48 in the Evo. Andy

  3. I don't like my evo boots as they are very stiff and I find them quite bulky also as the inner boot is quite thick. Not ideal for long walks, I also have a brand new pair of roadstar gtx which I only wore once and cannot really comment on how they feel.

  4. I wear daytona evo sports, track only but keep them on for a whole day if its nippy. V comfy and light, great to wear around the paddock and they crash well.

  5. Road Stars for me too, the initial outlay 5yrs ago hurt but they're the best boots I've owned in 40yrs of riding.

  6. I used to go through a pair of TCX Gortex boots about every 18 months. After some persuasion from some mates I bought a pair of Daytona Road stars at the Excel show 3 years ago and they are still almost perfect. Comfortable and waterproof, just a bit hot in mid Summer.

Excel bike show (or similar) is worth going to as you can usually negotiate a discount.

I notice the newer 'Strive' ones look a little bit more sporty with a toe slider (and different colours)

(P.S. I still think some of the older designs look like something a 1980's German porn star would wear)
