Hi guys! My name is Tom, I'm a new Ducati owner based in Salisbury. I have a 2003 749S in Yellow. It's my first Ducati and I absolutely love it. I originally bought a P7F ZX6R with very low mileage but I am now of the opinion that 600cc inline fours are for the track and the track alone. I took it to Moto Rapido on Saturday for a CO Adjustment as it kept stalling at tick over when approaching roundabouts etc. The customer service there was great and I had a nice look at a 1199R whilst they turned my bike from a snarling, popping mess that was a pig to ride in to a thunderous beauty that needs to be admired as much as ridden. The Termi's are the loudest things in the world. I had a bit of trouble with it never, ever wanting to start - I thought it was due to the cold weather but it turned out to be the b*****d Datatool System 3 alarm destroying my battery. So instead of spending the afternoon enjoying the weather with a long ride, I got amongst the wiring loom and removed to alarm system completely. I now have a bike that look beautiful, starts when it's supposed to, stays started, scares the bejeesus out of anyone I over take and makes me smile from ear to ear every time I climb onboard. I have only one outstanding issue and that is that something is leaking and I don't know where it is coming from. There is a green oil-like fluid running down the inside of the left-hand fairing panel. It is the colour of Fairy Liquid and has no smell. I can't trace it back to any where. Any ideas?? Tom
Hello and welcome. Hope to see you around. I'm just outside Salisbury up by Stonehenge. The guys at MR are stop on. I'll always use them. Just watch Craig in parts as he's pretty good at getting you to part with your cash! is the fluid coolant? Check all around your hoses and rad, might be worth getting the bike up to temp to see if that produces the leak. matt
Hello and welcome. Yep, that's coolant my friend, other Matt is right, check around the top of the rad, probably just a loose hose, but get it checked anyway. All the other fluids on the bike are oil based, thats unless you have Ducati screen wash kit installed that is
Thanks for the welcome. If there any rideouts planned around Salisbury area any time, please invite me! abmatt I'm in durrington, so about 5 minutes away from the 'Henge
Old Sarum here Next ride out I think to BSB at Thruxton _ bit of a short one that Oh and Prestcott next weekend but going in car :-F/
Welcome. Nice bike - 749s are great. Greg Pullen of Benzina magazine organises some decent runs, they are based in Salisbury I think. Look on the magazine website. Steve
I'm taking my kids to Thruxton, so I'll have to take the car. I'm not too familiar with the roads round here so if there are any good routes, I'd really appreciate being shown around. EDIT- Ruffs I'm just checking their website out now. Thank you
There's a few of us local now, might organise a ride out soon down Dorchester, west bay, Lyme, crewkerne to Shaftesbury and back
Welcome Tom Respect for getting in and removing the alarm, not the easiest job imo, well mine wasn't. I had my alarm on for 3 years, so much better without it because of problems with running down the battery, and it was so sensitive, every time I went near the bike it activated the alarm.
Hi Tom, welcome to the site. We're based in Three Legged Cross near Wimborne. Pop in for a coffee if ever your passing
