New Chain And Sprocket Set After 14,000 Miles ?

  1. Hi
I run the Multi Enduro 1260 (2019) and have done 14,000 miles all on road.
I can't keep the chain tensioned correctly and the front sprocket is not in great shape.
I'm not a super aggressive rider but appreciate the bike is full of toque, however, is 14,000 normal?

A side point: I have noticed some oxidation of the swing and again after 14,000M I clean the bike after every ride and treat with scottoiler FS365 in winter so again surprised!

  2. The front sprocket always wears out quicker - it's going round about twice as fast as the rear. On most of my bikes I find myself changing the front sprocket about every 9-10,000 miles and the chain and both sprockets about every 18-20,000.

  3. Lots of info about chains supplied by Ducati and other manufacturers as being a lesser standard than what is stamped on them, my DID stamped chain lasted approx. 8,000 miles (over 16 years :bucktooth:) so 14,000 miles is probably reasonable for substandard :upyeah:

  5. Sensible to change a chain at around that mileage, trying to get astronomical mileages saves little money and risks chain failure due to metal fatigue.
