New Clutch at 20,000 miles?

  1. Apologies if this has appeared elsewhere on the forum but I have not managed to find it. Whilst out on a short ride my clutch suddenly started slipping. By this I mean the bike failed to move. There had been no previous evidence of it begining to slip. I could rev the bike in any gear and the rev's would go up and we would not move. After doing a Rossi like prayer at the roadside it slowly started to engage a gear whilst still slipping and got me home. (Hail the 'Rossi-ex Rossi God'. I have checked the slave/master cylinder and there are no leaks and appear no problems. The bike has done 20,250 miles and is the S version. It has always been main dealer serviced. Whilst ridden hard it has not yet been on a track.
Has anybody else had to replace a clutch at this milage? Any idea of the costs?
    Thank you in advance.

ps I am aware from this and other forums that people with the dry clutch occassionally only got 8000 miles. Ouch!!!

  2. I had the same thing happen last winter! I believe it's the slave cylinder, as pumping the clutch eventually allowed it to engage! It went away after a while, especially once the bike was warm.

    No problems during the summer!

    Currently on 9580 miles!
