  1. Hi folks

Just a quick introduction. Been lurking for a while, gathering lots of great info and finally got round to signing up!

Bought a 959 back in July on impulse - had been wanting a sports bike for a while after trying my Triumph Sprint ST 1050 at Cadwell and realising that wanted a proper tool for the job!

So far I have done a track day at Cadwell and the Ducati day at Silverstone and I’m completely in love with the bike! I’m at Donington on the 27th and then Cadwell again on the 3rd Sept. All novice groups so far but after Cadwell I might have to move into inters - would like some advice on how to gauge if I’m ready.......

I’m going down the well trodden route of swapping the stock exhaust with the 1299 underbelly - managed to pick up a full system super cheap and just waiting for the fairing lowers to arrive!

Fitted the rear seat cowl today and gave both bikes a good polish. Here’s some pics! (sorry no dustbins)

  13. Hi, and welcome.
Inters often covers a pretty broad range of abilities.
I reckon that you can confidently go up if the only time you are passed in the novice group is on the straights, but everywhere else, from braking point to exit, you are waiting for others as if they think its raining.

  15. Thanks Jon - I had noticed that the inters covered a very broad range - some of which at Silverstone seemed like they belonged in the fast group. The novice group was pretty much the same - some very tentative riders along with some a little faster than me. By the end of the day I don’t think I was passed on the last session but that may have just been because lots of guys had gone home!

I think I would be happier if track day were timed like some of Focused Events are - that way the decision is made for you and you are always guaranteed not to be either a rolling road block, or that guy that’s scaring the crap out of people going past 40mph quicker.
