New Ducati Owner...

  1. Greetings all :upyeah:

I'm a noob Ducati owner, always admired them from afar but owned Yamaha's and Suzuki's previously. I was a daily biker years ago but had a break and returned last year - more of a casual hobby rider nowadays though.

Soooo, this week my GSX-R600 L1 was due a service and I dutifully took it in. Whilst there I got talking and ended up taking a Yamaha FZ1 out for a spin - which really brought home to me that I preferred the riding position and non-fared type bike for the kind of riding I do. The 150bhp machine flew in the midrange and seemed to match my Gixxer for acceleration too which led to a deal being offered for a permanent exchange...but the FZ1, good as it is, wasn't calling to me...but it got me looking around...and I ended up at a Ducati Dealer...

My preferred riding doesn't actually include any high speed stuff really so while I appreciate massive power and speed, it would very rarely be used if at all - so I went with the intention of test riding a Monster 796. But...I saw the Monster 1100 Evo and was smitten...and the sound! Happily I got out on one for a ride and it was just perfect for me - exactly the mix of handling, comfort and power that I was looking for. My next stop was to be the Triumph Street Triple but I never got there...I really don't like the latest Striple's looks and while it may have proven a 'better' ride, I am so happy with the Ducati's that I can only imagine it would be marginal and so...I collect my Ducati Monster 1100 Evo next week
