New From Sheffield

  1. Quick intro.
Looking at buying my first Ducati sports bike. Hopefully a V4 Speciale.
Did briefly have a 1100 Ducati Scrambler which was great but wasn't quite for me.
Current bikes are a '97 Foxeye Fireblade in all original condition. A '21 Aprilia Tuono Factory V4 and a '20 R1250 GS for winter and touring duties.

I'm 50 years old and back on bikes for the last couple of years following a 10 or so year break whilst i got cars off my chest and figured i'd get a Ducati whilst i can still get my leg over!
Always lusted after a Panigale and drawn towards the limited edition stuff.

Quite enjoying doing my research into the bikes so will enjoy taking on board all the info/advice i can get.

    Thanks.
    Craig

  2. Welcome to the forum.:)

  3. Hi and welcome.
Is the Wapentake pub still in Sheffield centre?

  4. Sadly not! It went quite some time ago.
Not many rock clubs left at all now.

  6. Welcome into our mad house :)

  7. Welcome Craig, and I look forward to seeing the first photos of the new bike once purchased.

  8. Thank you and thanks to all the above.
Close to making a decision on which way to go.
What's people's thoughts on the magnesium wheels on the V4 Speciale?
Necessity or just a nice to have?
The standard wheels are forged so wondering if there can be much difference in weight.?
Not that it will be on the track that much probably once or twice a year.

  9. We all like the best bits on our bikes, for me it always comes down the price, if I can afford the extras, I will always have them, if the desire out weighs the affordability, then the wallet wins every time...well most of the time, if I'm honest. :)

  10. Update.
Purchased a Speciale privately. Got what i think is a great deal as the bike is mint with all the bits and low miles which is what i wanted.
It's currently at the dealer's having the tracker installed.
Whilst in the dealers they showed me a Streetfighter V4SP which is a bike I had a deposit on for last year but didn't follow up on as a customer went bust owing me a not inconsiderable sum so going ahead with the purchase didn't seem right.
Fast forward a year and I now seem to have 2 rather special bikes.
Hopefully, both will be back with me this week at some point.
Will post pics as soon as i have them side by side.

  11. I did the same, a break of 10 years on the bike then just before lockdown started bike hunting after lockdown bought a multistrada 1260s, really enjoy no plans to sell, maybe a v4s eventually.

  15. A bit late by the looks of it :( :joy: Andy

  16. Sorry. I did not read all the posts.

  17. When I first saw the thread title I thought it was going to be about a certain Sheffield dealer known for it’s outlandish prices!

Am I reading this correctly? You took the Speciale to get a tracker installed and ended up buying a Streetfighter V4SP while you were there? :joy:

Is the Aprilia staying or does the Streetfighter replace it in your lineup?

  18. I know the dealer you're talking about!
Yes you are correct. Insurance wouldnt cover me for the Panigale without a tracker fitted so took it into SMC in Sheffield for the Biketrac fitting.
Whilst in there they had a cancelled order Streetfighter V4SP sat there.
Its a bike i had wanted previously and once i knew they would take the Aprilia in PX the deal was done.
The SP is also having a tracker fitted as part of the deal hence both bikes are at the dealers hopefully getting delivered this afternoon.
Wife permitting this weekend i'll be fitting the tail tidy to the SP and planning the fitting of the radiator guards maybe next weekend as i gather its a pig of a job.
A few Youtube videos should sort me out !
I'll also work out how to put images up on the forum and post up how things go.

    Cheers
    Craig
