Got sick of the slippy surface on my bikes seat so had it reshaped and reupholstered to look a little more cafe racer-ish
That's nice, who did the work? Has it altered the seat height? It may be the angle of the photo, but to me it gives the impression of having a slightly lower rider's seat height. Have you also switched wheels? Again, it may be the lighting in the photo, but the wheel rims look black & your bike definitely had silver rims in the photo you posted showing your Fleda system. You mention you found the OEM seat to have a slippery surface. This hasn't been an issue for me with my GT1000, but I am increasingly finding the OEM footpegs to lack grip. Keep checking the soles of my boots to make sure there isn't any oil or grease etc. on them. I've tried to make sure I don't spray any oil/silicon/PTFE cleaners or protectants on the pegs, but they still lack grip when I weight them with the balls of my feet when cornering. The bike is now over 7 years old and it's covered 15,500 miles, so perhaps the pegs have just worn & become slippery? Might think about changing the pegs, but I want to retain the ability of the pegs to pivot. Perhaps a set of footpegs from Oberon might be the answer? Ducati Touring Foot Pegs
It was done by saddle craft in South shields. Rider height is the same but pillion height is raised 2 inches. Wheels are the same. I very nearly bought a set of sport1000 black alloy wheels earlier this year from ebay at a reasonable £500 but didn't have the cash at the time. I don't seem to have an issue with my pegs? I don't ride particularly hard and my bike only has 6k on it so not sure if that would make a difference?
