Have had my 748 for about 5 years now, I promised it to myself if I got back from a tour of Afghan in one piece after seeing a similar one in a biking magazine going around the pods. Left the Marines and moved up to Carlisle, had lots of fun riding round the lakes but soon realised I needed a car in the winter as running a bike in Devon in the winter is quite a bit different to the Scottish boarder, so the bike was put to bed. Stupidly got an MG as a car so ended up having to pretty much rebuild the whole thing, kept me off the bike for a while and when I went back to the bike the ignition had siezed up, so left it till I had time to sort it. A year on, ignition barrel striped down and free'd off last night and identified starting relay malfunction today, thankfully there is a Ducati service garage in Carlisle so I'm sure they will be able to supply me with bits I need! Will probably need a new battery at some point too as the old one doesnt seem to be able to hold a charge anymore.
Ha no it wasn't me, was based at Chivenor in north Devon. Been trawling through the tech section as I could really do with doing a full service on the 748 belts and all. I have the tools and the confidence just need the know how, spend my life fixing other peoples k-series engines just not tinkered with the Ducati too much, I used to be of a mind that if its not broken dont fix it! As the 748 never needed much persuasion to stop working! Been a nice day today, am thankful that I'm in the process of getting it back on the road!
