New member South Oxon. Building a 749 trackbike

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by The Gamekeeper, Dec 29, 2013.

  1. Hello all, I used to be on the old forum when I had my MTS 1200 and 848 track bike.

I recently bought a cat c 749 base model 2005, and am stripping it down for track use. Hope to give it a 1st run at Bedford in March. Estoril in June and Jerez in October. Maybe a few runs at Brands and Rockingham.

Progress photos to follow. Any bits for sale? - I may be interested.

    Happy New Year.

  4. Alright Dave?

  5. No sorry not Dave.

  6. but being as I'm watching Only Fools .... "Dave" is near enough!

  7. Hey GK, are you ex the US Panigale forum? If so, I think we met at Ducati Aylesbury for a ride out with Bolds last summer on your Panigale? Nice project, but what happened to the Pani?

  8. Hi and welcome.

  9. Hi. Where abouts in Oxfordshire are you.
    I am close to Witney.

  10. Hi Gamekeeper welcome to the forum, I'm up the road in Oxford, was that 749 recently advertised on Fleabay?

  11. Don't do Rockingham, bad karama. I know 5 people who have crashed there including me. Geoff, Carlos I work in Eynsham and live in Stow, fancy a ride out when the weather improves?

  12. I'm in

  13. If you know Eynsham I am organising a Italian Bike day across the road at Cassington in May.
Cassington is well known for it's 'Bike Night' in late June. I ran that for 20 years . It is still running and we got 10,000 bikes there last June.
2 spin offs are a 'Best of British' day in early June and, in 2014, an 'Italian Day' in May.

  14. I think that was me - did we go to Ducati HQ?

I sold the 1199 and got an RSV4 Factory - i prefer it to tell the truth. Better on the road and much the same on track.

  15. Down near Henley. I used to work in Cumnor for 8 years so know your patch pretty well. Summer ride out in the Cotswolds then?

  16. I've done a fair few days up there - not my favourite - it doesn't flow and is horrible if damp. You get a few high sides at the right hander at the end of the little straight behind the garages. I don't like the wall much either. It's not a bad track for low power bikes though - you never really get going.

  17. I'm up for that.

  18. Yes I was advertising it - the one with a long story! Bought it from a tile shop manager in Lowestoft as full service history etc - got it home and found that the service history stamps where from Topps Tiles in Lowestoft, and it was a Cat C write off in 2012. Nice.

  19. Why wait til summer, we often do Cotswolds ride spring thru to autumn
