Hi all just picked up a 2013 s touring today and only had chance to ride the the 70 miles home but have anew questions 1. Th bike had a full tank or at least display was showing full but after 75 ish mile is showing as half full but bike says I'm getting 47 mpg and have 90 miles left. Is that about right.? 2. Is there any way of putting a key ring on the key fob as I would prefer to have it on a set of house and garage it's for when I'm out as I found I was constantly checking it was still in my pocket due to how light it is. 3. How much louder than standard is the termi end can as I'm debating getting one fitted at first service. 4. Can you drop the foot rests down at all as I would like them lowering slightly for comfort. 5. Are there any mods that can be made/bought to put a little bracket or similar on side stand to make it easier to get boot toe on it and put it down as I find it a little tricky to get down as my foot hits the left foot rest and makes it a little faffy to push all the way thats all for now I think thanks
Hi the fuels about right, I get about 140-60 milles out of a tank before the light comes on, but I haven't pushed it to see how far it can go before running out ! Rag it a bit and that can go to about 110 miles. The smile is worth it though
Thanks guys. The manual mentioned adjustements to pegs and I was unsure whether it meant dropping them down slightly. I'm sure I will get used to them. Shame can't put any sort of ring through. Little design flaw I think that. i l have a look palmer products. Can see myself getting a termi ha
Imalso had a few issues finding neutral on occasion and not quite getting it in gear, used to have issues with an old rsvr with getting neutral. Is that normal or is it something that will be adjusted out at first service once its all settle down
You need to do 1 of 2 things, 1. Lower the gear change lever a bit. or 2. Be firmer with the gear changes. if you try and do them to gently you'll often find neutral. It's easier to find a neutral when the bike is rolling. Also allow the gearbox to bed in this usually takes upto the 1st service, before everything begins settles down.
I think I just need to be more posiitive as there is more travels than my 999s. I thoughts that's may take till 1st service
For the key look at sato racing for a key holder. A little over priced in my opinion but it looks like it will do the job. I was thinking of a lanyard round my neck. I have the Leo Vince stubby carbon can and cat replacement pipe and it sounds nice. And half the price of the termi. ;-) Gears I think it's a bit of getting used to and a bit more positive selection (going by other posts ) I found the fuel gauge to be a little slow in reacting sometimes but at 75 miles its still got plenty of time break ;-) Do hope you are enjoying it though.
Thanks mate. That may be what I'm after but like you say pricy. Ill give it a week or so and see how I'm getting on. It's just strange not having a key in an ignition in front of you. The Leo Vince look nice but its not a termi. Are there any issues with fueling and where's best to get them. pretty sure it's it a case of being more positive. Yes defiantly like it. Need to spend a bit of time using it as normal and get first service out off the way I think. there are way too many adding to buy lolol going to get acf50 treatment I think first to protect it.
I end up with my key in the right hand compartment with my tax disk ;-) save should carrying it or when you fuel up trying to remember what pocket you left it in. I'd say the fuelling is ok for now although I'm thinking of putting a power commander on it and getting it dyno'd by a local company who have done all my previous bikes in the same way. I know what you mean by the termi but the cost of it was a sore one to swallow when buying the bike along with other extras and in all honesty I didn't like the look or the size of it myself. Although a lad I've met at the dealer with a pikes peaks shortened his down himself and done a damn fine job of it. But each to their own I suppose. I wasn't spending all that money just for a brand. I like the look and sound of the Leo Vince so went for that one instead. Mine is due in this weekend for its first service too. I need to get 140 miles onto it by then so going out a blast 2moro via the Ducati Glasgow track night at Knockhill. I bought two bottle sof the acf50 years ago for when I raced quads to try protect it from corrosion due for he amount of chips and mud / water they get put through. Never actually got round to using it though. So I might give the MTS a treatment too. What's the best way to apply it ? Just spray on and leave or is there a method to it ?
ill have a look at Leo Vince when I got home and do some re search, ive just sprayed it on and used brushes fornhardnto reach places on previous bikes but think ill use all year biker for this one. Only 60 I think for deep clean and proper application
Re the side stand question, I had the same problem (short legs you see) I push the footrest back with the heel of my boot and it gets you full leverage on the side stand, sorted
I buy ACF50 in the larger plastic bottles rather than aerosols then warm the bottle in a bowl of hot water to get it to flow better and apply it using a degreasing gun with my compressor. Obviously this doesn't help if you don't have a compressor but it's a good excuse to go and buy one along with all the accessories that look so tempting in the machine mart catalogue. This leads to a new problem when you find that the compressor you bought to apply ACF50 isn't man enough for all your new tools and you have to buy a bigger one
ACF-50 should be ideally sprayed on in an ultra thin layer, but I've had good results with previous bikes just brushing it on with a clean paint brush. I've got Allyearbiker.com coming round on Aug 10th to do my Multi, though. NB. Never, never, never get ACF-50 on braking surfaces.
Going to get mine booked in next week. Does anyone else find that the gear lever is a little small. Found that with my enduro sidi boots I found that I really had to twist my foot inwards to get my toe under the lever and even then was just catching the side of it
Not sure I would not too bad in sports boots but thicker enduro ones was really hard to twist my foot in far enough. Think ill have to have a look for a bigger lever. I'm sure someone ha had same issue and found a reasonable replacement
