Hi All, I am now in possession of an 06 1000S DS and I have a couple of questions. 1. Do they all have a comedy fuel guage? 2. What average tank range are you seeing? 3. Do they all pop on overrun, nice as it sounds? 4. Are they all crap at starting from cold. Thanks Duke
1, Yes 2, Around 150 miles depending on wether you rag it or not you rag it. 3, Mine does since I fitted a decat pipe. 4, Maybe dodgy earth. Check bolt for corrosion, behind oil lines on front of engine right hand side.
1. Oh yes 2. Used to refill at about 150 miles which left a bit of insurance 3. Not really, when mine started doing that a lot it was an indication the fuelling was off 4. Yes.
The idea of the fuel gauge is that you start out with a full tank .....you then ride until the light comes on and then turn round and ride back.... you have enough fuel to get you home again.....simples. popping may mean the slip joints need new compressed wire seals.....I put 2 in each joint ....much more effective clean the earth point as suggested.......add another earth wire ...bolt to side of front cylinder.
Hi guys, thanks for the advice, I've not had an air cooled duke for over 10 years and I must admit the Muttley is a hoot to ride. I've already cleaned the battery and starter motor connections, but I'll check the earth too. Just have to remember to reset the trip every time I refuel. Thanks to all, Duke
