So I took possession of a nearly new xidavel S today from the top folks at Manchester Ducati... a weekend on a demo bike was enough ...in fact I only bought it to look at the rear wheel...gorgeous So minimal time on her today cos of other commitments but she is superb I haven't experienced poor fueling at low speeds, vibrations or feet slipping off the forward pegs when giving it the berries, all of which seems to be a common thread in online 'you tube' reviews...honestly I am not sure if it is because the bike has been 'run in' (2000 miles only) compared to an out the crate demo bike. The demo bike I rode had a bitch of a clutch, super heavy and a struggle to find neutral nearly ever time....the one I took ownership of felt much lighter and neutral was a cinch.. Around town and in urban mode she felt fine, not liquid smooth but certainly no deal breaker onto open roads and sport mode and feck me she has some moves for a 'big girl' and when you pop the throttle open in almost any gear its like a sling shot...shockingly quick. I found planting my feet into the pegs as i twisted the throttle meant they didn't slip off at all...no dramas what so ever...i could almost feel the disbelief of car drivers as she howled past. I cant wait for more of the same over the weekend it really is a 'grin inducing look at me! attention seeking whore (and not ya cheap back alley type whore) of a bike and better yet it surprises people with an immense turn of speed and she even glides sweetly through bends and roundabouts those who think Ducati have lost the plot are missing the point, they are bang on the button and are probably way ahead of the competition with their first venture in to the 'cruiser' market. The V rod and V max cant compete so I don't even see why they are used as comparsions Just for the hell of it you should take one for a spin and I bet you would concede that it is indeed a fine machine
I reckon if and when I chop my Diavel in, it will probably be for an X. I love the look of them, and they have a stonking motor. I would probably opt for the footpeg relocation kit though, as one of my sons has a Harley 48 and I cant get used to the feet forward style. Enjoy your new toy. Stuart
oh there is a down side, the suspension is unforgiving on our very crap (and getting crapper!) roads, def need to have her set up properly!!
yes i will put some up soon as ....but its pretty standard to be fair lol and black like all the others
Welcome to the madness that is a Ducati XDiavel S. Every time I take mine out, I can't stop grinning. Not sure if you have the Termi fitted, but that makes it even more barking!! I have not managed to 'cruise' on mine yet, every time you ride you just can't help yourself!! Looking forward to doing the Ducati track day on it at Donnington at the end of May - as I said barking!! This is me last year, I had only bought it a few days before
Recently a convert to the "Diavel". Only managed a couples of trips out, but already love it. Welcome and enjoy.
Make your self a cup of tea, take a deck chair into the garage and go and feast your eyes, then make another cup of tea and feast some more
I'm naturally cool... I wouldn't count one out in years to come (if I could afford one) I think they are pretty awesome
