V4 New Phone Compartment?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by El Toro, Nov 1, 2023.

  1. Who’s had the upgraded phone compartment fitted? Does it make any difference? Can you fit a phone in there? Etc etc

  2. Have asked the dealer to order one for me, got to know that this is not a mandatory recall/replace but more driven by which customer asks for it. Yet to be received here in India from Italy and will know only then. Keen to hear from anyone who has installed this already.

  3. I'm going to get mine upgraded when it goes in for a service in Feb 24. Interested to hear thoughts from anyone who's had it upgraded already though.

  6. I asked the dealer to order one when it was first announced... Still waiting

  7. It’s the same size internally. Just has a fan fitted in the new lid.
The thought of leaving my phone in a pocket on the bike doesn’t seem a great idea anyway. I’m bound to leave the bike parked up with it in there at some point.

  8. I had the revised phone compartment fitted a couple of weeks ago. As far as I could see the size of the pocket isn't a lot different. The dealer let me keep the original parts, in fact they shipped them to me FOC as I couldn't carry them on the bike. I don't put a phone in the compartment, just some additional CO2 cartridges for use with the puncture repair kit under the seat - I thought it might be a good idea to keep them a bit cooler :)

  9. I was surprised my new bike came with the old phone compartment and I’d have to pay the 45 mins labour to get the new one fittted

  10. Does the fan work well then?

  11. Mines been retro fitted at the first service. Yes the fan works quite well, stays on all the time the ignition is on. it actually pumps a fair amount of air into the compartment. We’ll only know how effective it is when the summer returns. I did have a number of times that the phone stopped charging due to heat so fingers crossed.
Size wise, same as before I think.

  12. Sounds like all Ducati has done then, is create a mini fridge for a mars bar...

When I tested the V4 Multi, I asked the dealer what they expect riders to put in that 'hole', as it's laughably small for modern phones.

  19. I wounder where they get the power from for the fan, it suggests there's an additional power outlet under the tank?

  20. Or do they piggy back on the USB socket some how?
