New Pikes Peak Special?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by rlowe, Jan 31, 2014.

  1. I hope to place an order for a new Pikes Peak Special very shortly. Has anyone heard of any changes/mods etc that might make a delay in purchasing good sense?

Does anyone think that the full Termi exhaust is a sensible albeit expensive option.

Any thoughts on the above two querries would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. Not heard any news on mods/changes but you never know, as for the full Termi, I have one from new and think its worth the money altho some may not, just go for it u'll love it, just expect to replace ur number plate every 3 months

  4. Comment in an email to me:

I wasn't aware that any of the mechanicals (suspension, engine etc), were any different to the other MTS1200 models!!

.....any one confirm or enlighten me?

  5. Same engine/suspension as all other models with skyhook, the only thing that might make a very slight difference in performance is the pp has lighter forged rims(opens can of worms).

  8. I have tears in my eyes, i miss them:frown:
my Pikes Peak has no chance!

  9. I've just ordered a PP, delivery this week. I think the whole MTS will be updated in the next couple of years and then maybe a new PP but I wouldn't worry about it. Only last year the MTS was refreshed with the engine and DSS etc. The PP seems pretty spot on to me, not worth the money but who cares. I would avoid the full Termi and decat and leave the Termi stubby in place, cheaper, louder, way cooler.

Tis only a carbon version of the standard tailpipe, makes no difference other than cosmetic. For the full soundtrack cat removal is required.

  11. That's what I meant, don't go full Termi but stick with the Termi stubby and decat the bike with an aftermarket decat.

  12. Apologies Count, crossed wires

  13. No apologies required unless you have baffles fitted...

  14. Thanks to everybody for input. Took delivery last week without the full Termi and I am sure that I will not regret my decision. Very few recommendations to spend the extra money including my dealer who was not altogether very enthusiastic!

  15. I like my Termi

  16. The advantage of the full system is that Ducati have a remapped ecu as part of the deal.

Aftermarket decats/systems leave the engine running weak or rich on at least one cylinder and need a full dyno tune to set them up - usually involving several runs up to the limiter. I wouldn't fancy that personally as it must strain everything to the limit in a way never done in normal use.

    Just a personal view.

  17. Not the yellow of the egg!
Termi + Cylinder selective vote

+ better and stronger pipes, in the same length.
+ is quieter than QD, Arrow and Co.

    Ciao Piero

  18. The additional costs of the dyno, travel and accomm need to be factored in - maybe another £600?

  19. My Multi (Termi) was tuned on Dyno.
    € 500 for Dyno.

  20. And the results Piero??.............post the before and after charts ;-)

Where did you go...give them a plug :D
