New size Rear Pirelli tyres ?

  1. I am going to need a new tyre in the near future, my front is fine so I am sticking with Pirelli. ( Prefer Pirelli anyway )

After looking about there appears to be lots of places selling 180/60/17 tyres instead of 180/55/17, they are stating that these provide more contact area and are being used by loads of BSB and Ducati 848 Challenge riders.

Has anyone heard anything about these or fitted one themselves. I would have been concerned that they would affect the handling in some way ( Better or worse I am not sure ! ) or would rub on the swinging arm or rear hugger ???

  2. If I fitted a 60 it would definately rub my hugger. So I haven't.

  3. Moved to tyres

  4. I have also looked at these tyres....but thought exactly the same

  5. standard on the 848 SF - not much choice of manufacturer if you want to change

  6. if they fit then go for them, i've used 60 profile scrubs on the trackbike and the liberties you can take with the throtttle when you are cranked right over are rediculous!
