Has anyone had to get a replacement spare key for their bike? I’m guessing it’s the same for all the new models? Ducati have charged me £88 for a blank key and told me that I need to get another company to cut the blank? Problem is that the local Timpsons have refused to cut the blank due to the cost of a new blank from Ducati unless I sign a waiver to remove them of any liability should they cut it wrong and it doesn’t work. Seems absolutely ridiculous that Ducati will only sell a blank key and then put the responsibility of the cutting onto me. Is this normal for Ducati?
Yes. I had the same with my 1299. Expensive key from Ducati, got it cut myself using one of the existing keys as the pattern. My local market key cutter (not Timpsons) cut it. I had to agree the waiver of responsibility, but it was fine.
