Hi All.... Im completely fresh to the duc scene,so please treat me gently lol,and have just ordered a box fresh new stead, and I have seen a few threads/posts about throttle slack spacers, and sump guard protection. Are these a defo must have go to,before picking the bike up ? I've already ordered evotech tailtidy, and rad/oil guard,oh and the spacers to illuminate the caliper reflector, but will add above if required. Also I'm looking at stone chip protection film for the front of the bike, would I be right in saying that the front bodywork on the 21-23 models are exactly the same ? Any help and pointers in the right direction are much appreciated
Hi. Good purchase you will love the bike. I have a 2021 Dark stealth and it’s the best bike I’ve owned. A little thirsty but so am I lol! Definitely get a sump guard. If you get a stone chip in the paint, then potentially corrosion can set in. Reference throttle spacers they do take the slack up nicely but be careful which ones you buy. I bought a cheap set off fleabay and it affected my autoblipper ( throttle position sensor was confused thinking the throttle was partly open) . I replaced them with the original Ducati spacers which are expensive for two bits of plastic but they work. Anyhow hope you enjoy the new bike. regards Carl
Congrats on the bike. Definitely get the throttle spacer ordered (the official one, not some cheap knock off from eBay). There are PPF kits available, have a look for Tony James Designs, he makes pre cut kits, and can make up whatever pieces you want, great guy. Here’s his website https://tonyjamesdesigns.com/ And yes, the sump guard is a definite requirement, from what I’ve seen on here.
Cheers for the info guys..... Just phoned ducati, and ordered evotech sump guard to be fitted prior to bike collection. Will look at throttle spacers when home from work, and get these ordered and fit my self...... All that's left is for Ducati to pull their finger out AND start building my damn bike lol Also, stone chip protection also ordered.... Will now be on beans and toast for life,so fingers crossed the bike is epic lol THANKS AGAIN CHAPS !!!!
Beans on toast are fine, just add a bit of hoi sin sauce to the beans! Stick some pictures up once you’ve got the bike (not of the beans on toast!)
I'm more of a HP sauce or Tabasco kind of chef..... But as iv just got quoted £1700 for my insurance,it looks like the beans are staying in the tin lol Cheers again chaps, and will defo show a few pics on bike collection day....
Lol....... Just a tad older than 14,and living in the posh part of Hertfordshire,if there is one lol But even though Ive never had any claims/convictions etc in 35 years,I think it's Bennets just taking the mick,as I was far too lazy to swap my insurance to a new company last year....... So I think they are just chancing their luck.
Cheers mate..... Great shout,as now only £944 !!!! Will have another look tomorrow, but defo a step in the right direction
Have a SFV4S and before that many other Duc's - I've used either clipped cable ties, heat shrink or hellerman sleeve as throttle slack reducers, road or track - no incidents. You could by all means pay £30, fool and his money....
So "finally" I got to see the bike I've ordered in the flesh today,as finally arrived at the dealership yesterday afternoon..... So even after signing my soul away, and parting with my hard earned cash, unfortunately I still won't take delivery of her until the end of June...... As although the bike still needs all the evotech goodies/wings/tracker etc fitting, I'm off to sunny Bosnia as of Monday...... Apparently all good things come to those who wait........ #Excited !!!
Lol.... My pennies cldnt stretch to cup holders, errr I mean wings lol But bike is how it came in from Italy,so fingers crossed will be fitted prior to picking up.
So,after the longest wait EVER...... I finally managed to get my grubby lil mits on this bad boy... Only covered 40 miles today,as wanted to get the bike home,to helicopter tape the front end...... But omg,it didn't disappoint !! Weather looking epic tomorrow, so will be out and about to rack up them tedious running in miles.
I have tomorrow off work and could in a pinch cover some of those tedious running in miles, I’ll even pay for fuel (E5) and provide my own lunch. I didn’t buy a throttle spacer kit for my KTM just cut up an old store card and superglued into place, been in over 3 years now and no sloppy throttle.
Looks good what number is yours? Mine is 8. Amazing bike. I never got on with my 21’ S but the 23 model is far nicer to ride.
