New Supersport

Discussion in 'Supersport (2016 onwards)' started by adele G, May 1, 2017.

  1. Picked up my lovely red SuperSport on Friday, love it to bits. Italia Moto in Lincoln set it up for me perfectly, just wish it was run in already :)

Insurance was difficult because none of the major companies had got round to putting it on the database, despite Ducati giving them all the specs in January. Meant they want to charge up to 800 quid! The Panigale would have been cheaper! Had to settle for £600 in the end, just more bs from the insurance industry.

  6. Wow, that's a lot of money.

    Did you try Ducati insurance???

  7. I had a test ride 4 weeks ago and loved it, was ready to order but insurance has been a real stumbling block. Initial quotes (when I could find someone who would quote) for the standard model were over £1000, Ducati Insurance wanted £1495. I'm 47, 10yrs + NCB, clean licence and live in the countryside and bike would be in an alarmed brick garage. Dealer put me onto DMC who initially got it down to £800. I am currently paying £220 for my 2014 VFR. There's not a huge difference between the bikes when you ride them back to back and they both have a similar amount of expensive panels in event of an off . I've now after many phonecalls got it down to £390 but it's still around £150 too much for what it is. I'm leaving it for now to see what happens when it gets on the database. My own insurer (cornmarket) went to the underwriters who are rating it same as a CBR600RR

  8. Nice one, I'll be interested to hear how it fairs, from all the reviews it's a fantastic bike. Shame about the insurance issue though!! Keep her lit!

  9. Dam! I've just pulled the trigger today
Coming off a 1199 I didn't think the insurance would be a problem
I managed to convince the wife the comfort seat would be far better than the standard seat

  10. Wow, not much more than my 999 on Carole Nash classic insurance...

  11. a long term Ducati owning friend suggested Adrian Flux so I just rung them. Quoted me £800. This is crazy. Does not appear to be on any database still. Must be costing Ducati some sales if people check insurance before putting down a deposit

  12. I'm due to pick my Supersport S this month (fingers crossed), but I'm also having issues with insurance. I asked Ducati UK on twitter this morning about it and they've replied with 'We're aware of the problem and will resolve soon'.
As I have no date for pick up yet I shall leave it as late as possible hoping this is resolved. Currently with Bennetts with my GSXR so hoping it will be a straightforward switch with a small price hike!:flushed:

  13. It's best to phone Ducati insurance
    Just been quoted £393 + 250 Excess
    I'm 57 with 7 years no claims
Bikes Garaged with abus ground anchor and chain
Ouch! I was only paying £113 for the 1199

    I was with Bennetts
They based on the 959 panigale because they don't have the supersport on the system
They would then need to go back and get it referred,so no guarantees that they would except it,so I was told
    I was quoted £591+ 500 excess

  14. With regards to insurance, all I can say is, ******* ****!

After my test ride, and loving it, I placed my deposit but am now feeling a bit worried about the whole insurance thing.

I have been quoted £819 by Ducati Insurance with a £250 excess. Currently waiting back for a quote from my current insurers Principal (currently paying £129 for BMW r nine T), and sadly think that if it comes back super high, it may well influence my decision to go through with the purchase.

Just for comparison I've run a 821 Hyperstrada through Ducati Insurance and it came out at £481 (£250 excess), but through Principal it was £220 (£350 excess), with agent confident they could get it under £200 negotiating with under writer.

So it looks like I may be someone Ducati Insurance does not really want to insure, based on their high prices, so fingers crossed Principal can offer something that's a tad easier to swallow. Meantime I'll try and gather a few more quotes.

  15. I got 410 with Principal , no commuting. my VFR is 220 with business use

  16. Cheers, that's reassuring to hear.

  17. Call Principal but ask to be referred to the DMC dept. They specialise in Ducati's and have the Supersport covered sensibly I'm told.

Ps the reason the underwriters are giving stupid premiums is because of the model name.....Super Sport!! DMC have advised their underwriters exactly what that means.

  18. Welcome, please join the map linked below.

ps: New dedicated map been launched soonish!

  19. my quote was Via DMC, still around £150 too much for what it is

  20. I've emailed details to Principal as their underwriters are not available until.

Also stuck the 821 Hyperstrada through MCE and it came out at £164 (bizarrely with Principal who quoted £220 on the phone). Hope they can get me in for £400 or thereabouts. Next problem will then be delivery. Not sure I can wait until October.
