999 New Swingarm, New Exhaust ??

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Kingfixer, Feb 17, 2016.

  1. My 2003 999 is over at LougiMoto at the minute having some work done, one of which its having the later black box swingarm put on. the bike currently has a 57mm termi system on it, what are my options after having the new swingarm put on, do I need a full new system or can I swap over part of the system to make it fit ?

  2. I had a half system and when I changed to black swing arm I had to get the link pipe.

  3. Hi
Sorry I cant help with your question but I,d be interested
to know why you are changing your swing arm

  5. What are you doing with the grey arm, is it complete with hardware?

  6. Yes as far as I'm aware , I'll check first to confirm.

  7. I had my exhaust modified by a fabrication specialist for the swingarm upgrade. All my rear brake assy transfered over easily, though a new brake line was fitted.

  8. I managed to get a full system to suit the new swingarm so will be selling on the system for the grey swingarm, hopefully it might get delivered today !!

  9. Wii swapping the swing arm not reduce the value for little benefit and significant cost?

  10. I wouldn't have thought it would reduce the value ??

  11. There seems to be a lot of talk about originality being key to high values.
Not that I've kept my bike original but I have kept all the original bits.

  12. Mine is far from original anyway so I don't have to worry about that, (most done previous to me buying it). I have done a few things since owning it but its far from standard.

  13. Kingfixer, how do you find Louigi moto? I spent some time with Richard last week, he was very pleasant and informative, I have always used JHP in the past whom I find fantastic, but are just a little to far away for small faults etc so am thinking of changing over to LM completely it would be great to "go local".

  14. Fair
    Fair enough
    :)

  15. Like you I find Rich very helpful and like you him being local is a big plus !!. I always use Rich and having Chris at CJS in the same building is handy too.
The only downside is him being able to fit you in as he is always extremely busy but now in the winter im not using the 999 so not bothered with timescale.

  16. Thanks Kingfixer, I will get in contact with CJS and get the lot booked in, sorry to divert the thread.

  17. Same here and the box swingarm is an improvement over the grey swingarm. CofG is moved forward towards the engine and it is stiffer. I don't expect to get my money back, as I never intend to sell it. My 999S is my ongoing morphing, long term project. Lots of mods, too many to list. [emoji106] [emoji3]

  18. Well I bit the bullet and bought a Termi full system (used) to suit the new black box swingarm. Just had the bike back today from LouigiMoto so a little ride out tonight once I have the new hugger fitted and fairings back on, also had a clutch MC fitted as well as a QS so very interested to see how the bike feels with the changes, he also did some changes to the Sigma slipper clutch as it was squealing a bit.

  19. I reckon you'll enjoy the QS - just make sure you hold on...!
