Hi all, I'm going to dip my toe in the Ducati water after owning a few Aprilia's. I've just sold my Mille and still have my RSVR Factory. However, at the age of 53, my 'smiles per miles' are getting less so on the sports bikes and I'm finding them really uncomfortable. Anyway, after a bit of research and reading. I think the Multistrada will fit my needs (and ache's) just perfectly. So, I'm o the lookout, and with a budget of around 5-6K, I'm looking at a 2010-2013 model. Ideally the S model with the Ohlins. I've read about the importance of servicing etc and the Desmo service too. Hopefully, I'll be joining you all very soon. Cheers, Geoff
Welcome along. if your looking for an S with Ohlins then it’ll be up to a 2012, maybe an early 2013 as they switched to Skyhook that year along with the twin spark engine.
It’s a divided opinion some preferred the Ohlins and older, more raucous single spark engine, others the later. I had a 2013 Skyhook variant, great bike but can’t compare as never rode the earlier model, apparently the twin spark was a bit smoother lower down the rev range. If think you’ll regularly ride one up, two up, no luggage, luggage then the convenience of on the fly suspension settings might be useful but if your mostly sticking to one set up then the older Ohlins bikes might suit better? I think there was an optional add on to the Ohlins which transformed it into a semi active system?
