Discussion in '749 / 999' started by simon Ridley, Sep 3, 2022.

  1. Hello.
I have just purchased a 749r mk1. Its a bike ive wanted for quite sometime. I have been looking all over the place and then one pops up local to me and looks just right.
Anyhow the guy selling is an enthusiast and this was the last bike he was selling from his collection. From what i can tell/see the bike is all good, its not completely standard, id like to get some things to original..
I will post some pics up when i can get some.
There are a couple of things im after that i will stick in wanted adds.

  10. Looks good! What sort of miles on it?
    What’s that exhaust - Akra/Spark?

I have a set of original brake calipers and clutch cover…

  11. 6k miles and the ultimate leo vince.
I did think the calipers were different to original..

  12. Aye, those are M4 calipers. Excellent, but not original fit.
6k miles - nice. Big service at 7.5k. If you need to adjust valve clearances then it’s heads off for the 749R as it’s nigh on impossible to remove the collets in situ.

  13. Nice find!

  19. Fantastic bike.
    I didn’t know what to expect from a 749r coming from a 748r.
After 18 years, of wondering if I like the looks of the 749, I rode it. Amazing bike to ride.
If anyone who still doesn’t like the looks - ask them if they have risen one = all will be forgiven.

  20. That looks like an 04 fairing (4 vents) however it does not appear to be carbon as the upper vents are red on the inside.
