New To The Ducati Scene!

  1. Hello all,

I'm a 24 year old motorbike lover and brought myself a ducati st2 as a second bike on saturday and absolutely love it!

Had a few small little issues with it at the moment, it wont rev past 6000rpm but it has been sat for 6 months with the same half a tank of fuel as it had now! May be the issue maybe? And struggles starting even with a new battery but seen this is quite common on the st2.

Any other issues I should be looking out for and anyone else have an st2?

  4. Welcome Dean :):upyeah:

  5. Welcome to the Forum Dean:upyeah:

I too just bought an old ST2:astonished: it’s a bit like an agricultural, but comfortable version of my 748. Not sure what Im gonna do with yet, probably cafe racer it:thinkingface:

Re the starting issues, yeah I noticed that. First thing is to look at Exactstart.co.uk and get some new, thicker starting cables, they improve the starting of those era bikes no end. @Exige is your man for these.

Put a thread in the Technical Help section re the ‘won’t rev past 6k’ someone will help out:upyeah:

edit: just seen you’ve done that already:relieved:

  6. Welcome aboard Dave.... That looks in really great condition :upyeah:

I’d definitely be looking at draining the fuel system and refreshing, hopefully will sort things out:motorcycleduc:

  8. Hi. Welcome.

You can add to our street cred being a young un. I would have killed for a Duke at 24

  9. It was always my dream bike a Ducati and lucky enough I picked this one up for £800 with full service and original bill of sale and books as well

  10. Nice one. They are great bikes to own, ride and enjoy. When I was your age the cost of a Duc (relatively speaking) would be many many times that sum.
There really is a wealth of experience on here and, in the main, we are a friendly bunch. The wanted section is also a good place to post for any parts you may need. A subscription (£15 I think) will pay for itself in discounts at Halfords, especially on oil, some tools and batteries.

  17. Hi Dean, welcome and have fun. I think I would definitely get rid of the fuel, stale unleaded can be a pig for clogging jets, etc.

  18. Hi, looks a nice bike, lots of character those
