Hi all. I have owned my '97 900SS since 2004. It is an import from Canada where I did a straight swap for a Harley Sportster 1200 which I had bought in Houston. The SS is a stonking bike and I still love it after 15 years. I rode it as standard for 10 years then over the last 5 years I have modified the bike. First I took the fairing off. Then I fitted higher bars, a new seat, after market lights and indicators and a mini idiot light cluster. I also moved the pegs down and forward about 3 inches. It is now much more comfortable for an older rider (like me!). I also fitted a front sprocket with two fewer teeth so that I could ride at 30mph in third gear. OK the top speed is only maybe 115mph but I tend to ride at 30 more often than at 115. I've attached one "before" photo and three after. The next job is paint the frame. I'm thinking of either bronze, a bit brighter that the original, or yellow. Suggestions welcome.
I see why you decided to change the seat! Lovely bike, only thing is it’s..... yellow! Welcome to the forum.
Welcome Eddie, ignore anyone who says otherwise @Carr01 there’s nothing wrong with yellow. He’s just jealous as they’re faster
@PaulPhillips Your challenge for the day;has a 100% YELLOW Ducati ever won a motorcycle championship in modern times
Easy peasy. The answer’s yes. “The most difficult to remove drive sprocket in the world championship”. It’s held once every 20 years in SW Ireland. If you ain’t in it, you can’t win it. Next one is in 2039. ps. For the benefit of the OP https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/seized-front-sprocket.71982/
