I bought a Multistrada 1200S this year. My first non sport bike in 35 years. I joined to get some info on an issue with the error message " red switch not fully released". All of the posts I've been able to find on it include usage of the kill switch. I never use the kill switch, only the button on the tank. The symptom I'm experiencing is that after shutting down the motor and parking it , I return to the bike and find the dash lights on and the red switch error in the round display. I also never have used the steering lock. So the bike comes to life on it's own. My dealer says that it is picking up my key's signal and switching on. Back to the non sport bike. I've owned a 907 Paso, 900SS, 888SP, 916S, 996, and an 1199S. Loved every one of them. The Panigale was everything I thought a true sport bike should be. The issue was that I found myself in the well over 100 MPH speed range way too often. The performance was addictive. Also it would have been due for it's major service this spring ( $3500 ) . I like the Multi, but I don't love it. Styling, engine performance, front brake lever is inconsistent, it all seems sub par to even my old 916. Shifting is the worst of any bike I've owned, notchy feeling shift lever, also the clutch lever creaks. It corners very well and the motor is nice in the upper rpm range. The wind deflection is very sub par and creates buffeting. I guess I'll look at a 1299 at the Portland show tomorrow. I guess I expected all Ducatis to be of the ride quality of their sport bikes.
The red switch (kill switch) is normally left in the up position when the engine is off, or running come to that.
