New Tyre time shortly

  1. So after nearly 3000 miles the Panigale tyres look a bit 2nd hand. I dont mind the Pirelli that are on there but the expense of getting a replacement set looks a bit steep, and I cant say that the feel from the front has been great.

I see that you can go down to a 190/55 which is fine but wanted to know what are good at the monment. Assume fast road with odd trackday thrown in

  2. You have a panigale and worried about the price of tyres!!!!, I really like the Dunlop d211, but tyres are a personal preference thing, what one person likes another hates

  3. D211, or the d212.

  4. you gotta save the pennies somewhere to pay for the carbon:biggrin:

Will take a look at those Dunlops and see what reviews are like

  5. Check out the traction control if fitting non standard tyres, especially downsizing, as I believe it will need resetting.

    hope this helps

  6. Not being funny but if he's getting 3000 miles from a tyre I don't think the TC has had a hard time.:upyeah:

  7. I use the D211 gp racer as I only ride on on the track. Plus the D212 are a lot more expensive and I'm tight.

I've seen a couple of panigale's running the D211 but not sure if they were the 200 or 190

  8. Thanks for the input and agree with Drinky. I think I might have seen the TC light come on a few times since I have had it but I havent tracked it yet.

If you are doing 95% road riding, how do tyres only last 1500 miles or so which I have read on other forums, I guess that there are just better roads that aren't full of potholes, ridges, camera's nearer where they are? Or maybe I should get a BSA Bantam or such like

  9. Just fitted a pair of BT016s and been really impressed so far. Ok no road miles but on track they did a good job and after 3 days of hardish riding still look fairly new. And they are cheap ;-)

  10. For fast road (ie, running them to the edges or within 0.5cm of the edge on a 190/55 tyre), I was very impressed by the Pilot Power 3. I am certain they would handle a sessioned trackday perfectly fine, and they would be epic for wet trackdays too.

Otherwise, I still rate the Diablo Rosso Corsas. Fantastic responsive road tyre that offers a fraction less wet grip than PP3s, but they are more responsive in feel. A better occasional dry trackday tyre too, having done a few trackdays on them with no issue at all.

  11. Just been having a look around if I do downsize would it be a 190/55 or 190/50?

  12. Think me gonna get a Pilot Power 3 and give them a whirl - seem to get good reviews and as my riding is mainly road/wet/all conditions these seem a good one to try.

Anyways probably will last me 4/5 months anyway at the rate I am riding

    Cheers

  13. 190/55....the 50 is too low and will really screw the TC up. as already mentioned, the Rosso Corsa or BT016 Pro's work really well.

  14. Pilot Power 3 fitted and getting scrubbed in. Must say that they are far more confidence inspiring on the front end for the road riding I do than the Pirelli before.

I did go down to a 190/55 and it has been fine - as I am getting more comfortable with the bike and these new tyres it has given me more confidence to push it more which is better than before.

Just gotta look for a weekend trackday in August/September - Might try Rockingham - anyone been there?
