New tyre wheel out ?

  1. Is it easy to remove the rear wheel on a 999 without splitting the chain ? Was going to get a new tyre then get it fitted locally for a tenner. Have to take the wheel off first !
Nothing in the manual and nothing on u tube ....

  2. If it is anything like the double sided swing arm on my previous bikes, you undo the chain tensioners and push the wheel forward hard up against the swing arm. That should allow you to lift the chain off the sprocket as you rotate the back wheel. It would be advisable to mark with a bit of tape where the chain adjusters are before you start so when you refit the wheel, you know roughly where to adjust the chain up. Andy

  3. I have a 999 too. As Andy said - just like most double sided swingarm bikes, no need to split chain.

  4. if your even thinking of chain splitting then I would recommend riding it to the tyre depot and letting them remove and refit the wheel.no offence ment, but always play safe.
