New Tyres

  1. Another Dave question: So 35 years ago I was doing 10 minute tyre changes in enduros, not the quickest by far, but am clueless now about the tubeless tyres that I need replacing. Do I set to, with tyre levers or does one aways get a bike shop to do this these days?

  2. You can do them yourself but you need more than a set of levers. Ideally you want a bead breaker, rim protectors and a wheel balancer at a bare minimum. Also for tubeless tyres you need a compressor to seat the bead, and one that's big enough.

Plenty of DIY tyre changing kit available but if you're not properly geared up its far easier just to take loose wheels to a bike shop. My local workshop charge me £12 a wheel fitting only on tyres I've supplied.
