Newbie Alert!

  1. Hi guys

Just joined after getting approval from the wife to get a new bike (she doesn't actually know what it is yet - no Rolf Harris jokes please!), neither does she know that I've already got the loan approved and the bike put aside - a Pani S which I'm collecting on the 17th.

As well as using the bike at the weekends, it's also going to be my daily driver for the daily commute, generally a 20 minute traffic laden route - 10 mins traffic, 10 mins twisties.

    I have a few questions:-

    1) Have most of the reliability issues been ironed out now?

    2) Has the heat from the rear manifold now been sorted to a reasonable level - I saw that they did a heatshield replacement?

    3) What are the Pirelli's like in the wet?

Anything else I should be aware of?

    Cheers

    Paul :upyeah:

  2. Welcome. Nice choice of bike.

as far as I know, the bike is pretty reliable. The heat will never be reasonable, the shield has modified to prevent the user burning themselves on the exhaust. As for the pirellis, they are rideable in the wet, some like them, some hate them.

    how far is your commute?

  4. Hello!... Don't know nuffin about the Panagali apart from the are lovely bikes... Oh, and that the are Ducati's...

  5. Put it this way: Multistrada owners inhabit this forum in hoards with tales of woe.

There can't be half as many Pani owners, but there don't seem to be any real tales of woe.

So it looks as if it is quite reliable.

  6. They seem pretty reliable, mine hasn't had any issues other than rattling bolts out, your arse and right leg will get hot regardless believe me.

  7. Blimey - i'd consider something else for that. A big Ducati will frustrate and barely get warm. I hope you get on with it OK.

  8. The mods on the heat shields for MY2013 is a huge improvement with heat properly controlled even in heavy traffic. Yes, its noticeable on arse and thighs but slightly warm rather than hot.

Agree with Dave that you will find heavy traffic frustrating but all is forgiven once you reach the open road

    hope this helps

  9. You live in jersey don't you? The bike will barely get warm

  10. Thanks for all the replies fellas.

Yes live in Jersey, not to mention the 40 mph speed limit!

  11. Douglas tours on his all the time here and Europe and so far he loves it
Hello and welcome to the forum.

  12. I've just bought a Panigale S and it's fantastic!. It's the my 3rd generation of Ducati superbike and I can say it's by far the easiest to ride in traffic, infact after riding a 1098 in traffic for 3 years its almost a pleasure, the clutch is lighter, the power delivery is smoother and the riding position better. I think on a 20 min commute the heat issue shouldn't bother you too much. Don't worry, Enjoy!!!!.

  13. I find my 1199s much easier in traffic than the 848 I had, don't notice any heat issues seems just the same as the 848. Those new mods on the exhaust cover and cylinder head spoils the look in my opinion, my back side would need to be on fire before I fitted those as I had the option when I bought my bike. Superb machine enjoy.
