  1. Hi All,

Currently sat at my desk writing a list of parts i need to order from Ducati Glasgow, whilst browsing pistonheads!

So i decided to find a Ducati forum and join it!

So im 27, live in Aberdeenshire, passed my test last year, Bought a 1998 748 bip, which had been used as a track bike prior to my ownership, so it has termi's, the chip, and the road trim is near on immaculate as its has had race trim on it for a while (and sat doing noting for the last 2 years!

When i went to see the bike (bought it from a colleague) it was in full race trim and on slicks... i just had to have it! (picture below)

The previous owner put it back into road trim for me, gave it a good service and it was ready to go as sson as i had fitted some road legal tyres ( i did not have a clue about bike tyres, went on the MOT/tyre fitter reccomendation of maxxis diamonds - not the best, but i didnt know any better at the time)!

I rode it on the road for about a month and had the hankering to get it down to knockhill and see how i would get on with 2 wheels over 4! having done around 1300 laps by then in various car i figured it was the place to go and test myself and of course get a feel for what the bike was really about! so i went back to the guy i bought it from and bought the race trim! took it down to my mates signwriting/car wrapping business and decided to have a bit of fun with the race trim, giving it a freshen up - not everyones taste, but i wanted to put my own mark on it, and looking back - i would have been better off leaving it as it was, but the Alice stuff is totally fine under the wrap!

Needless to say it p1ssed of rain all morning, dried up in the afternoon and did nothing short of put a massive smile on my face!!

even managed to get a little knee down action - which made me smile (and gasp the 1st time my knee touched the groud!)

Not really done anything with the bike since, ran it a little on the road as it is (with the tail tidy back on), had booked a few trackdays, but the 1st 4 were cancelled with the snow etc. so i decided at the weekend that im just putting it back into full road trim and giving it a good clean up while im at it!

Here is it on Tuesday night,

and last night, with the pipes back on, forks cleaned up discs are all cleaned up and ready to go back on, claipers have been stripped, cleaned and lubed up ready to go, i have a few bits on the way from ducati Glasgow (who by the way have been fantastic in terms of bits i needed to order etc)

Hoping to get it all back together by mid next week and get out for a good run over the weekend if the weather plays ball, then i can start commuiting in it on nice days to stop fuel consumption killing me in the car!!!

    cheers!

  2. Hi there.

I work up in this neck of the woods and have seen your pics on PH some time recently too. Nice bike! Is that your first bike since passing?

  5. Thanks all,

Aye, its my 1st bike, always wanted one as long as i can remember, most of my old school books have 748/916's and M3's drawn on them and now im fortunate enough to have them both :)

    Where do you work Andy?

We could maybe get a run sometime!

  6. Was just wondering as I can't imagine jumping from a learner bike to the ergonomics of a supersport. Great job getting a classy machine like that though! It's taken me 14 years of riding to enter the Ducati world, but I'm loving it so far.

I work up in Altens but only around here Monday to Friday. I know the area pretty well in this neck of the woods, but I live down in the central belt so I get a good mixture of roads to ride!
