Newbie To Ducati!

  1. Hi guys,
just thought I'd say hi and introduce myself.
I'm very new to Ducati (I have a 916 to restore and know very little about it!)
Seems the 916 needs a lot of work and I'm sure I will be making many posts looking for help.
I've had a bike license for a while now, but not riden for quite a time (used to have a CBR), I may ride the Duke, but for now I'm just looking to get it restored.
I'm based in Gloucestershire, would be great to meet up with some of you guys sometime and check out what a 916 is supposed to look like or even just get some advice - I've got tons of questions :)

    Cheers Ian

  2. Hey Ian. Welcome and best off luck with the build.

  3. Welcome Ian - good choice - pics please?

  4. Hello & welcome. There's a wealth of info needed on here. Good luck with the project.

    Ian :)

Here's a pic of the bike, as you will find out it needs a LOT of things...
Fingers crossed. thanks for the advice already, I'll start a thread for the work I'm doing and also explain a bit about the bike...
    Cheers I.

  11. First thing I did was swap the side stand for one from a 848/1098.

  12. OK first stupid question, is the 916 stand s'posed to flick up automatically! That's asking for an accident!!!! (which I found out when I almost dropped the s0dding thing). Hmmm maybe I'll check out the other stands, but I am quite keen to keep original..

  13. Could you not fit a weaker spring and keep the original stand?

  14. You can get something on eBay to stop it flipping up, Itd like a small oval bracket. I just put an 848 on as never trusted the look of the original.

  15. Welcome. Looks pretty complete for a bike that "needs lots of things";)

  16. Yeah the fairings make it look like it's almost ready to ride :)
I'm sure this is 99% good compared to some projects, but does seem quite a bit for me (wiring loom, ECU, swingarm, forks etc.. all tots up) You can read my progress at: 916 Restoration Project
I'm sure it will be a slow thing getting it going, but determined to get it back on the road :)
