  1. Found this today, nice looking bike but £2000 seems a little steep,

but if you are willing to pay that much its worth it?

Might have to look at chopping mine in if that is the asking price:upyeah: (somehow i don't think i would get that much:frown:)

  2. And with his ad, loads of words but seems no evidence, could just as easily be an old dog wrapped in a New fur coat

  3. A lot of what he says doesn't stack up...........

First of all he says it is one of the last with a gold frame.......these were in use up to 1998.

Then he says it has an original R plate for a 1995 registration.....

..and then he contradicts it by saying the V5 has it registered in 1998.....Well that would make it an R reg.......so why say it is 1995?

What also bugs me is the 55mph red line on the speedo......I thought that was for the US market only.......my 1997 750SS doesn't have it, neither does my spare speedo from a 1998 750SS.

The scuffing from a boot on the footrest hanger (by the brake m/c) looks like more than 4000 miles, too.....mine has done 30K and isn't scuffed (after nine owners). Not even sure about the zorst discolouration in 4000 miles either.

Perhaps I am reading him incorrectly, or maybe he can't read properly and got 1995 muddled up with 1998...........but the speedo??????

  4. And the belts were changed when he bought it..........3 years ago. Looks ok tbh, but i get the feeling he doesn't know his bike too well. I've seen the 55mph speedos in the UK. Think at that time, whatever stores issued, got built onto the bikes. It's got the early wheels on, so could be a late registered '95 bike?? Dunno.
Bit of a service and it'll probably make someone a nice little SS. £2k aint all that bad. He's talking it up a bit, but i've seen much worse for more money.

  5. The speedo from (not fitted any more) my 916 has the red '55' on it. I've seen loads that have, funny thing is I'm not sure it was a requirement in the USA even back then as most states dropped the blanket 55 limit ages ago...

  6. This one is worse I calculated about a grand before even considering pressing the start button, and you will have a half faired yellow 900ss ie...who wants a half faired yellow SS
    Ducati 900SS

  7. Sold £2306

  8. F-me...see what it went for!!! £2300!! Could have had mine and all the spares for that.....

PS.....Any carbed SS would have the early wheels (albeit there are two types of them which look identical until you want to fit the speedo drive)

I suppose we wait for while for all the questions to start being asked.........still, I did the same.....

  9. Makes me wonder what some folk will pay.

    I have a totally original 1995 900ss
    £4000 anyone?

  10. I know a man that would have that SS from you - He currently owns a 999, he might be interested in a swap?

  11. That fairing is definitely 97 (98 was just using up old stock) never seen one pre 97 with that vent on it. the early 98 reg would be an R plate, so maybe the 95 comment was a typo (5 and 8 are next to each other on a numeric pad after all). Perhaps Ducati had a glut of US spec MPH speedos left at the end of production? the final few bikes were liable to have all sorts of oddities on them.

  12. I like the seller's comment when asked about the condition of parts - 'You worry too much', crikey, I would take that as a red flag, its a Ducati ferchristsakes!

  13. My UK supplied 97 600SS also had the 55mph red line.

  14. If he has cash to go with it, he can have mine
