If you are going NoLimits Phillip Island jaunt in 2025 and would like to get ahead on documentation, here's a little help. It's essentially the same as having to do a manifest for EU TDs but with a little more Aussie style attention to detail. For reference see the attached PDF from 2018. The biggest pain was having to have photos of the engine and frame numbers, with the Ducati engine number being under the front cylinder. These were printed out, encapsulated in plastic and attached to the bars. This time around NL are probably taking the long way round ensure the bikes get there on time are are not affected by regional conflicts. Notes: No used tyres on the bike or stillage, due to Aussie bio security Main bike drop off was Donington Disconnect your battery, LiPo batteries may not survive complete discharging Pirelli tyres are TD choice in Aus, they didn't have Bridgestone V02s in 2019 The geese, they are stupid and will walk out in front of speeding bikes on track, several were hit last time. I hit a smaller bird Your bike gets shipped like this
I think it was -4 degrees when I loaded at Doni. Bit warmer on the island. The battery was completely flat after the three month sea voyage. I made a new set of Pirellis last three days on my 899. Probably gonna need two sets for the V4. The fuel can nonsense was even worse than a Euro TD, having to buy a new can and leave it behind three days later. The garages are tiny and very crowded. The pit lane exit, track entry is incredibly narrow, very long and you need a lot of speed to join at turn one (Doohan) where riders on track are decelerating from flat out in sixth. There is a flag for sea fog. I can’t wait to get back out on track.
Current Aussie fuel prices in AUD (1.96=£1.00) and options E10 – a high point of 207 cents per litre and a low point of 177 cents per litre. Premium 95 – a high point of 226 cents per litre and a low point of 196 cents per litre. Premium 98 – a high point of 232 cents per litre and a low point of 202 cents per litre.
ASBK at Phillip Island to whet appetites: Pirelli tyre tech saying the new surface is overheating SC0's (forum doesn't let you use a YT link at a certain time code) Code: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ84fQM4cbc&t=615s
Crikey o reilly assuming victuals includes beer food and tyres that must be close to 4k all in (I would also need professional help to "photograph frame numbers"). Thats me out of 2026 unless something extraordinary happens with my lottery numbers
Bags are packed and weighed. Documentation completed and printed. Various batteries charged up. Just need to sort insurance….. any thoughts?
I went in 2019. Bloke next to me had a beautiful V4 Corse with the big red starter button. All going really well until he needed to refuel. That requires a key to unlock the tank cap…….. Long way to go for two sessions
Was on a EU TD and guy did similar. His Mrs was a copper and she wouldn't go to the airport and hand the key to someone going to a nearby airport, so he paid his mate to go over for a short holiday.
