1200 DVT No Dash, No Headlight, Loss Of Power........

  1. My DVT has done 3,600 miles, bought it in May 2016 and during a tour of the Picos, the dash just went blank, like it had switched it self off. The bike still ran okay but it was weird not knowing speed, fuel level and other stuff. Twenty minutes later is came back on....all was well; it did it once more that day. Got home okay and went up to Loomies for a morning coffee a week ago last Sunday and went to start the bike...no dash. Engine fired up okay but power was well done (about the same as a 250cc bike). It's been in Moto Rapido for a few days now and they haven't yet got an answer from Ducati as to what has gone wrong, although they are now going to replace the dash from another bike and see what happens and if that doesn't work the wiring harness may have to be changed. Apparently I wont see my bike back until at least next week. I just wondered if any of you DVT owners out there have experienced a similar problem and how was it rectified.

  2. Update/more information, in case any one else suffers the same problem.
Moto Rapido reply today...."We removed the dash from one of our own bikes and swapped it over. It's not the dash. So we have started to check the loom connections now.
It's not a 5 min job as you can imagine so we are now waiting for the factory to advise the likely connections that could be the cause. The obvious power supply's have been checked already.
I expect an update this afternoon and we have your bike scheduled for more analysis on Tuesday."

  3. Final Update......new wiring loom fitted and problem solved. Thanks to Moto Rapido for good service and keeping me informed at every stage. Now to get back riding again!

  5. So it took 21 days to fix the problem or have I misread this?

  6. Bike went in September 21 and ready for collection October 17. Apparently Ducati want every single possibility checked out before they agree it it needs a now wiring loom as it's circa £1,000 plus labour cost

  7. and sod the customer :grimacing:

    well done Ducati :smirk:

  8. so they put a lot of effort into diagnosing the problem and after some investigation replaced expensive and time consuming parts which fixed it. Somehow this just isn't good enough for someone who wasn't even involved in it at all.

  9. Think is, it isn't a car, and if they are now following VAG rules for diagnostics, we are all buggerred!!
