No Luck With Home Printers

  1. I seem to have real bad luck with home printers, most of which seem to last around 12-18 months before developing faults which mean I bin them, as a new all-in-one tends to cost around £50.

Last night my Epson SX515W stopped printing black and despite my changing the ink cartridge, is still not performing.

I wouldn't mind, but the printer is used maybe once a week for usually one or two copies, so they're not hammered.

Anyone recommend what printer I should try next ?

ps - I'm using the library's at the moment before anyone suggests it

  2. See if you have a function to clean the print head in the settings.
This may be on the printer itself (if it has an lcd screen/menu) or you may be able to do it through your computer.

I sometimes find that mine does that once it runs out of ink, or dries up, and cleaning the print head pumps new ink into it and primes it nicely.
