  1. Hi just got a set of fairings just removed my nose cone to replace with the one I just got and I just cannot seem to line it up I can only get 1 hole out of the 2 to show on the indicators but cannot see anything from stopping it, but it just will not move up anymore it's doing my nut in. Any ideas?

  2. can't you post up any photos, might help.

  3. Well have thrown in the towel on this not even the oem bolts fit which is not a prob, but guy before had it fitted with out the lights on his 1098 as he had it plastic welded but I wanted to use for road too oh well back up for sale I guess.

  4. It may have slightly distorted if original owner used a heat source such as a glue gun or other plastic welding tool. It may be possible to get things to line up again if you get some heat into the nose cone - I use hot water bottles on plastic panels as they're safer (for me!) than heat guns - I don't trust myself not to melt a hole somewhere..... whereas a hot water bottle will get loads of heat into the plastic without risk of damage and will make it surprisingly pliable

    Good luck

  5. I find the cables for the indicators can prevent the holes lining up at times. Plus I use the palm of my hand to smack my fairing between the lights to get it to fit properly. Sometimes it can be fiddly and just need a good shove.

  6. So just fill a couple of hot water bottles then stick then inside the nose cone for a few mins?

  7. You also need to give the slots for the lights a good clean up. From your pic above, there may be residue stopping it seating properly.

  8. You might fit the fairing on as best you can, leaving only the troublesome bit to do, then drape a couple of HWBs covering as much of the fairing as you can so as to get heat into as large an area as possible and leave for about 10 minutes to be sure it is as pliable as possible in all planes. Be careful if the decals are over the paint as the heat could soften the glue and cause then to slip/become 'mobile'
