Not so Sure Now

  1. Hi All, Went for a test ride sunday on a Multistrada 1200s, And for most parts it was superb, Yes found a strange neutral where I didn't expect it and thought the screen was crap. As with all bikes there must be a good alternative screen so if anyone could recommend that would be great. BUT after reading the thread (that I cant seem to Find) the guy saying never again, their shit ect ect....are they really that bad??????? Don't really wanna part with 15k to be buying trouble and I know nuthin about dukes, Im comin from triumph...... Thanks for any help

  2. All brands have stories to tell. You pays your money, you takes your choice. It's up to you to decide.

Ps I love my 848 Evo Corse SE

  3. I'm P/Xing my 2011 MTS for a 2013 model. That should tell you all you need to know, it's a cracking bike.

  4. Just back from Scotland trip, 1200 miles all in, bike now done 2000miles. Faultless throughout the worst the weather could throw at it...and that was everything including a bit snow through Glencoe! Its everything I hoped for, comfortable, fast and handles well up to (a probable) 120 mph. MPG around 45. Heated grips superb. The slightly noisy screen blows rain off the visor in the high position over 50mph. Panniers didn't leak. Everything works and it started 1st time every time.:upyeah:

  5. Go on the BMW GS sites, you would never buy a GS either. Paid £15500 last Sept for my S Sport Multi and love it. Owned a 996 and 748 before and never had problems.

  6. Love mine, can't think of another bike I would swap it for.

  7. I wouldnt say that, the gs liquid cooled is getting rave reviews. The gs is a reliable bike when you consider the numbers sold and the mileages covered are far in excess of that of most ducatis. I sold a BMW Gs adventure with 55,000 miles on the clock last year, it was still going strong.

having owned 4 ducatis, one was a friday afternoon bike, the rest including multistrada 1200 absolutely fine, generally good but they do let the odd shonker through the quality control and arent always the best at resolving issues.

  8. I've had mine for about a month now (2011 S Touring) and, coming from a life time of race replicas, am wondering why I never made the move earlier. Yes, some foibles, but I'll get them teased out over time, but it is a fantastic bike.

  9. You said that twice...

  10. You're being put off by what could be one fella with expectations way above what is reality?! Get a grip man, make yer own mind up and crack on :upyeah:

  11. My 2013 S Touring has just taken me from Glos - Land's End - John O' Groats - Glos without a single hitch. 3600 trouble free miles, so far, since April.

I think you missed or misunderstood my point, I wasn't knocking BMW GS's (I've had 2 and loved them, still do) but commenting on the content of some forums and people's rants that would scare the bejesus out of potential buyers. But you can't make judgment this early on the new LC GS as its only been out 5 mins, of course it will sell like hot cakes its got a cult following. I was also told by a very reliable source in the trade that BMW had higher warranty issues than Ducati. But at the end of the day, you pay your money and take your choice.

  13. I've had my Multi 12 months, had a few niggles, such as a 'gear drum selector' problem. This is where it drops out of 2nd gear under accelleration. However after a Gearbox repair/ replaced all is good. The only time I find a neutral now is when I'm NOT assertive/ firm enough with the gear changes. The other 2 issues were a 1 wrong coolant installed, 2 L/H Fork had rubbed against the brake lines and dealer fixed/ replaced both issues.

Its a Nov 2011 model, registered in 2012, I suspected 1 or 2 issues having read many reviews & write-ups. The 2013's may experience there own issues, but then again they may not. All i'll say is don't let 1 man's thread put you off a bike that so many of us enjoy riding.

  14. I've just done 2k in less than 2 months and worrying about mileage. Good to see there are others worse than me!

MY2013 is so good, I can just can't stop riding it...

  15. er... isn't that what you bought it for?

  16. What about the bloody screen 2013ers. Is it any better?

  17. Sorry ojobear, didn't realise you weren't following the screen thread. The stock screen is better. my opinion is I like the way it is kept low for looks and not obstructing visibility. Had the big Ermax on the 2010. Was in glee until a muggy, oily night on the A1.

To improve wind protection, at the suggestion of Veetwin, I've added the Wunderlich screen extension.

As for riding it, well guess I was a bit self-conscious from my dealer's comments about mileage. Having said that, they did acknowledge Ducs are not normally used that hard until the Multi. With the Strada range, they are reaching out beyond the weekend warriors.

  18. Me too :upyeah: stunning bike

  19. My dealer commented that going past 10k miles really hit the P/X value. I reminded him this was designed as a tourer and perhaps they should re-examine their mileage expectations of these bikes.

  20. Seems to be the case in Scotland, the closer bikes are to the first major service the less you get, but once it has been done the prices seem to level out
