well, after a rough start with handling we are really starting to gell with the old girl. Have set sport mode up with zero electric help and had a play on some roads for the first time. I know there is no extra power but really felt that much sharper, like it can breath more ? A real fun ride today. Loved it. The plan was always to try and get back on the track as it's been several years since I have . I can see Snetterton has a day on the 12 of this month. I fancy just the evening session, just to get myself every used to track riding. Should be fun.
Hi mate. Sounds like you've nailed it. Did you setup suspension differently to combat the other issues? Awesome bikes these hypermotards.
Well, I think one of the biggest mistakes may have been me. Maybe. The suspension we know I played with and that is still ready to go into mct when free . It's wound up tight and that's it. I've backed off in my approach to riding it, as in my inputs are less aggressive . I think that maybe with my upper weight and me throwing the bike around more than maybe the bike either needed or benefited from didn't help. If you over do your inputs that's even more for the suspension to deal with ? What ever , today was a cracking day with the bike flying along . Yes she stills seems a bit light headed at higher speeds but that's the bike I think . It's not a high speed bike really , is it. Any how, it's enough for me to take the centre stand off, wedge some serious tyres on her and letsdust off the one piece leathers and go wind up some IL 4's
Oh dear In Cambridge Ducati this morning, and clocked an SP hyper for sale. Only just came in so left my details with the sale girl there so she can let me know the rough cost to upgrade from my strada to that. Those sp's are real cute you know.
The multi is like that. If you change direction quick and hang off, it ties in knots. If you stay upright it copes better but still doesnt like flips-flops fast direction changes. But guessing long wheelbase, top heavy, flexible chassis doesnt help
Haha....that'll be Charlotte and that's the only SP in UK stock now until October which is Ducati's ETA for more SP stock. I nearly bought it, but my local dealer had one so went there instead. Regarding the head shaking, I can confirm the SP doesn't do this, my 821 does. The 939 is also considerably stronger at all revs. Feels like a big torquey engine (which it is). Saying that, if you keep the 821 then a set of supercorsa SP's will transform the handling. I have them on my 821 and they made such a difference it was unreal.
Well, funny you say that cos I've ordered a set of tyres for next weeks trackday. Took my leathers into Cougar Leathers for a bit of work and then we're good to go again. The bike has rekindled my love of bikes again.
Well theses Hypers just keep getting better . As I've said in other threads , I was unsure what to get after many years of non bikes . I fancied the looks of the 1198 but didn't fancy the practicality of them so went Hyper instead. well , I think tonigh kind of summed it up. I came home from work, her indoors and the kids where out so I just kitted up and went out for a ride for the shear hell of it . That's something I've not done for years and years, since I was in my early twenties and had the real lust for bikes. Went for a blat , then on the way back started looking for roads to take me longer to get home. Joy. a few wheelies , played with the TC as well as some roads were wet and fancied just trying to spin it up coming out of bends. Hell , I'm 47 going on 21 . I bought the hyperstrada but if the local Ducati store get their act into gear I'd swap it now for the SP they have in store because I fancy more of the same but otherwise this really is just great. have some new Super Corsa's ready to go on as well, to really have some fun. Fantastic bikes.
Sounds like me on every ride! Those super Corsas are goi g to make it even better. Is the SP a 939? they're taking their time aren't they?!
That does look nice. The extra power of the 939 is great, but the 821SP will still be a worthy upgrade.
really, get the SP. You can do far more with the suspension to set it up the way you want it. I rode the 'strada when they came out and was really impressed, then the base hyper, but the SP is just another level. Race mode is what you want - no computer between you and the throttle bodies. It lightens up the front like you wouldn't believe.
