Nurburgring This Weekend?!

Discussion in 'Rideouts & Events' started by Monners, Oct 6, 2015.

  1. Anyone feeling silly enough for a Nurburgring trip this weekend. Riding out Friday probably , back Sunday. Bunch of my mates are doing it in Supercars and I'm thinking about joining them on either the Panigale or the KTM Adventure, would be better if someone else came on two wheels as well.

  2. Some of us are out here all year around LOL. The track is open 4 days solid this weekend, it could be busy or quiet on track. Last october for the 4 days it was very quiet as most tourists stayed away. If wet when you are out here on your bike, DO NOT RIDE THE TRACK, it will be as slippery as hell.

  3. The idea of riding across Belgium puts me off, you'll know when your in Germany as the bike/car will stop bouncing all over the road.

  4. Might take the bikes out in my van as Jase is not up for the ride out Glen. I found Belgium quite good going last year, got mixed up with Autobahns and got some good pace on :)

  5. Normally I'd jump at the chance but unfortunately right now I'm down to just the 2002 R1 as the bmw has been sold for a house move, the R1 hasn't even got an mot yet :(

I think my riding is over for a few months tbh, all I can think about is how to fund the next bike.

  6. Given the forecast here, expect to sit in the bar for 2 days

  7. Going to throw the trials bike in the van as well in case it rains :)

  8. A few weeks ago - sure.
    Mid-October - maybe not.

  9. There's a Track and Trail enduro free ride on just outside of Winchester, a lot nearer and who gives a shit if it rains, £35 for non members a lot cheaper than crossings, fuel, hotels etc and where are you planning on riding your trials bike around the Ring?

  10. No idea, anywhere we can do wheelies and complain about the track being wet :) If I'd known about that Enduro earlier I probably would not have arranged this but it's all booked.
We're now three Ducatis in a bigger Vivaro van so it's either going to be epic or very expensive if it goes wrong!

  11. Looking at the weather forecast you might be OK, cloudy on Saturday 10% chance of rain and bright on Sunday again 10% chance of rain. However that said I wouldn't trust it not with the Ring having its own weather system.

  12. Not sure I'm going to be able to learn this track in two days :)

    Epic!

  13. I've probably done 40-50 laps and it still baffles me, not what's coming up next but because this time going into that corner you have a car going far to slow on the racing line and a GT3 RS sat on your chuff. If you dont respect it your Panni will be coming home in a box of bits.

  15. Some say 70 laps to really learn it. I love the place, atmosphere is fantastic, can just chill out and watch the world go by, and then ride fantastic roads all around :)

  16. Love the place & would certainly join you if I wasn't committed to work. Wild camped locally & done many laps'

  17. If the roads are dry you have to blast down to Cochem, the road down to the town is awsome.

  18. Nice and grippy in the wet, that place looks very scary

  19. The ring is not the place for Egos at all, things go wrong and quick. Also a very expensive place to have a prang.

Never done it in the wet although I can imagine it'd be hideous.

If you go, take it easy!

  20. PlayStation3 with Gran Turismo 5 and RFactor 2 (on PC) are a great way to learn this place in so far as having an idea whether the next bend is a right or left and roughly how far away it is, must've 'driven' hundreds of virtual laps . Can't prepare you for how steep it is in places though.

A lot of people have lost a lot of money at that place.
