Fast Bikes have a "Rumour bikes" section going. They're betting on a 1199 Pani-engined SF. They say, correctly, that the 1200 Monster is an urban roadster not a sports-based naked that can't compete with the latest supernakeds and Ducati need to put something up against the Tuono. Partly. They also need to compete with the Superduke which is the only other V-twin example out there, so why would you use the smaller 1199 engine and have to do some serious retuning to reshape the torque curve to get it where it needs to be when you've got the 1299 engine available which is much closer to the KTM to start with and matches it in capacity? I don't know, but FB seem pretty convinced it's going to happen. We shall see.
It is. The MCN article is about the next X-Diavel. The headline suggests a new naked but in fact they're just talking about an official X-Diavel revamp. Fast Bikes are speculating on a specific Pani-based Streetfighter. Whether they know something or it's just wishful thinking, only time will tell.
It would tie in with this thread https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threa...bike-streetfighter-diavel.63571/#post-1157640
150bhp would make sense given Euro4 emissions constraints but an 1199 engine and not a 1299 ? Don’t understand that one. Andy
Why don't MCN report on what has happened (ie news) rather than speculating on what might happen? Same for all media, dependable reporting has gone the way of the dodo while rampant sensational speculation and hypothesis dominates. If there isn't enough news about motorcycling each week to warrant a newspaper about it then perhaps there isn't a need for one? Padding it out with "what if" annoys me... I doubt I'll renew my subscription, I'd rather they put more effort into the sport reporting and reviews. Between various podcasts (FEC, ARR, Wheelnerds, Full Throttle) I get more entertainment for free than I get from MCN.
