Heard about them through the 999 beachracer. Real shame, they go back to 72. Monster Stuck in Defunct Ducati Dealership | Ducati News Today
shocking news, used to buy tyres there when I lived in NZ, Haldanes under cut every other shop when it came to tyre prices
seriously doubt it cheapish tyres brought a lot of non ducati and non kawasaki/yamaha buyers into shop that otherwise may not have ventured there Bob Haldane possibly wanting to retire and calling it a day is a far more likely reason to close shop and anti motorcycle policy in nz, ie road tax dearer than car road tax (becuase of compulsory acc levy) and limiting riders to 250cc for 2 years is having a knock on effect on dealerships closing over time
Bob may have wanted to retire, but what about Chris? Learner bike licence if different now too, Lams bikes now, don't know too much about it, but there is a list of LAMS bikes including at least 1 Ducati. It is a shame Haldanes have closed, they had a good reputation, although I have never been there personally.
i said it in another thread : ducati is booming and their dealers are just scraping by : something is wrong with the Ducati distribution system... and we all suffer for it..
Ditto Apple and a load of other premium brands who exert muscle on their retailers. If your equity is all in one brand, as a retailer you become their creature. Ducati are sadly no different.
Haldanes was multi franchise so you can't blame this on Ducati sadly when I lived in NZ every year or so one major bike shop closed, sign of decreasing numbers of people riding bikes
