1200 Obd11 Compliant?

  1. Hi all.
Would a 2013 MS 1200S Touring be OBD11 compliant. My OBD11 reader won’t connect to the ECU. The manufacturer of the reader doesn’t think the bike is OBD11 compliant? Does anyone know if this is the case?

  2. Isn't it a case of the reader needing the correct specific software to talk to and interrogate the ECU via OBD, Ithe latter being, in effect, the transport protocol. Not that I know a whole heap about the subject but that's how I understand it.

  3. Not OBD11 compliant

  4. Check details on melcodiag. I used it with an ODBC reader to get the codes off mine. Melcodiag will work with your model year. I used a ELM327 FORScan OBD2 reader that I got off Amazon. You need the cable adapter too.

EDIT: FYI, the adapter cable that comes with Tuneboy works with the reader. In case you happen to have Tuneboy Cruise, etc.

  5. Sounds like you know a whole heap more than me!

  6. Thanks for that. I found an ODBC reader and downloaded Melcodiag. Followed instructions but Melcodiag connects then hangs! It states at the bottom of the screen that it is setting up ELM but doesn't appear to be doing anything? I click on "get licence" and nothing happens. After 30 mins or so, the only way to close the app down is via task master. Any ideas?
