1200 OEM Satnav wiring

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by duke63, Apr 1, 2014.

  1. Anyone taken the OEM satnav wiring to a Navihalter?

Is it easy to do and is there a step by step guide anywhere? AndyW? :D

  2. Is that the power lead or something else? Ive used the power lead for my ultimate add ons unit

  3. The power lead, yes. Sorry i didn'ty make that very clear.

Its under the l/h panel isn't it?

  4. Yes, really easy to use and works perfectly on mine. Much better than leads back to the battery

  5. Yeah I've wired my tomtom and run the wire up to the navihalter from the power socket , trimmed the wires and soldered mine in and heat shrunk over top of wires , very easy

  6. Mine are just plastic taped together...probably no surprise ;)

  7. Is the power switched with the ignition?

  8. Yes. Mine has an on/off button in line too but nothing works unless ignition on anyway

  9. Yes and Yes. See above. :upyeah:

  10. Anybody got a source for a replacement OE connector? I'm thinking I might make up different leads for different purposes. (I know, I could do that with another connector after the OE connector, but more connectors means more chances for something to be not connected...

  11. Moocow is correct with the details. Don't forget you will also need the correct crimp tools.
I have the connectors and crimps, and can provide an extension lead if required.

Personally I have a coaxial power connector in the fuse / relay area behind the left headlight. This allows for the satnav mount to be easily removed.

  12. Google ultimate add ons. I have interchangeable leads for satnav and iphone, you can get usb and all sorts. Leads cost about a tenner after you have the base of £20

  13. Eddie, contact John W of this parish and he'll sort you out with the connectors ready made up with wire pig tails

  14. What is plugged into the socket already?

  15. Got any photos of this?

I would quite like to do that.

  16. Nothing. It's a factory fitted spare power feed which Ducati have installed on the bike for use in connecting up the Sat Nav etc.:upyeah:

  17. So I see, in the post two above yours. :)

I've already got crimping tools, so I'm quite happy to make up my own if I can get the bits.

I haven't got the bike next to me, so I'm going by @AndyW's photos; is the 'accessory' side the receptacle or the tab from the CPC catalogue?

  18. That looks quite useful, but my sat-nav takes a 12V feed, so I can wire the mount straight in. (Actually, it's so old, it's almost clockwork...)

  19. Haven't got the bike here either but it looks like the 'tab' to me?
