Have an urge to go and do an off road day course type thingy - just for the fun of it. Obviously the obvious one is the BMW one in Wales, but its quite a few quid. Has anyone ever done one/been to an off road school in south east/south west england, that they'd recommend having had a good experience?
Bmw off road course? On what bike? Dont say a fecken gs as that is not an off road bike in reality. Look up mick extance off road experience or rm trail riding
i don't have an off road bike, hence wanting to do one at a school type thingy. Ill have a look at those two thanks.
I did an Trials school day with a few mates last year, near Leek in Staffordshire. All day on 200-300 beta trial bikes. Great fun at low speed. I'd recommend staying somewhere local afterwards as you'll probably be aching all over. Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but great fun all the same.
Did a day on Sailsbury plain with my mate a few years back. Had a great day out and got chased by the MP as we went through the middle of a maneuver. Tanks and Chinooks going all ways. Trails
Did a day years ago from Bournemouth with a guy called Paul, he provided the bikes which were 250 KTM's, was such a good day out I ended up buying a bike. OK, as fate would have it, try this bloke Excess Energy Offroading this is the bloke we used as I said previously it was a long time ago but I'd recommend his set up if it's not changed.
Mick Extance, you even get to fly as well as be covered in your mates mud North wales, worth the visit JUst bought a CRF230 so will be trying to find some local action too, there is a fair amount SW way
Been doing a few routes round here this week Bradders got a great 4 hour loop all on legal byways if you fancy a trip down.
In a hundred or so years of road/track riding, I'd never really ridden off road. I went on this one, it was excellent, but I was very rubbish, I reckon that if I could have stitched all my short flights together, I could have got to Marrakech! GJones gave me his observations and advice on basics over lunch and I could ride off road that afternoon (well, I stayed on that is)! Sore, tired, but happy driving home. Just done a couple of days riding the trails in the hills north of Malaga, with Trailworld Spain. Great fun. I went with four mates of various levels of experience, none of us ride off-road and one of us hadn't been on a motorcycle for 30 years! So Steve, the co-owner and guide, kept the rides relatively easy for us. We did over 80 miles on the second day, some of which was on linking roads between the off-road sections. Three of our wives came along as well. They went walking in a couple of the national parks in the area. On our last day before we flew home in the evening, we went to Antequera. We walked around the castle and nearby church. We didn't get to see the Dolmens which are UNESCO World Heritage listed. The Trailworld Spain base is about a 45 minutes drive from Malaga airport and is a few miles from the nearest town (Villanueva del Trabuco), so it's best to hire a car. The accommodation is pretty good and Steve & Kay are good hosts.
