Off The Gsxr, Now Looking At Red Bikes!

  1. Hello all. Just sold my GSXR and looking at joining the Italian marque.

    Went to the Ducati factory in Italy in 2007 on my GSXR. Awesome place and loads of temptations. All i can say is its lucky they didnt have a shop at the end or i would have come home on a 1098 at the time!!

    Had loads of good times on the GSXR, but Ducati is shouting and i feel the need to scratch the itch....

    The GSXR is an awesome bike in all its guises, supremely capable, but it feels sanitised compared to a Ducati Superbike. It's a very involving process owning a Duc (read, irritating at times when the go wrong) but when you sort them out, they are absolutely wonderful to ride and own.

  8. Yes the GSXR was a great bike and would recommend to anyone, but time for a change.. All i gotta do is find one now. What are the key differences to the 1098 and 1098s other than Ohlins and wheels?

  9. Someone knowledgeable will be along.

    It's possible that the 1098S has titanium conrods - just as with the 999S compared to the base 999.
    The Ohlins suspendies just on their own are schmexy though, what more do you need to know? :D

  10. :upyeah:The concern i have is ohlins forks have a reputation for leaking, so wanted to know the differences to the 1098. I want to ride the bike, not garage it all the time for fork seals! Having said that if there are engine mods on the S, then that may make the decision..

  11. I've had Ohlins forks on my 999s for 11 years now, no leaks as yet (touch wood!).

  12. 1098s has steel rods, only the 1098r has titanium rods. only other difference to my knowledge is the s has ohlins steering damper as well as ohlins suspension and lighter wheels.

  13. The bike is immaterial really once you decide on a Bologna Bullet...

    The colour however, is more important than naming your kids. ;)

    Choose anything other than red, and you just won't love it the same. :Smuggrin:

  15. Hi and welcome, forget the red is faster, yellow is faster, no white is arguments - Exact Fit belts are fastest :D Exact Start will fire her up quicker :Bag:
