  1. Hi, looking to get a rough value of a rear ohlins shock which will fit 748 916 996 998. It will need a new spring, service and a good clean. In good condition they seem to be advertised on eBay at £1200. Appreciate mine will not get that!

  2. Are you selling or buying?

  3. Not worth much as it is in that state. A service with new spring will be about £280. And in mint condition, about £350 / £400 tops.
A top of the range RS shock like a DU 430 or 1430 can be found for £750 ish.

  7. The question is what would Ohlins charge for a full refurb service.

  8. I think I may take a look at the cost of a rebuild as to buy a replacement they seem to be fetching £1000+ on eBay

  9. Good luck but they are about 1000 pound new from Öhlins. Check with BG bearings in Silverstone if you like. It's a box standard Öhlins design which can be valves to suit whatever you want.

  10. thanks I will check them out

  11. Asking money and getting money are two separate things... I’ve bought my Öhlins shocks for about 350,- EUR in nice condition. I would take it in this (most worst) condition (I've ever seen) for 200/250,- EUR the max.

Asking prices sometimes are a laugh, especially in the UK for some ‘94 parts on eBay. I will take 300,- EUR Chinese plastics over an original fairing for 2500,- on my ‘94 Strada. I’m not mentally ill. So you can rebuild it for about 250,- and ask a grand but you have to be really patient. Bitcoin hit 50k so nothing is impossible but will I will not be your customer ;-)

  12. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Chace but that shock is shot, there are plenty that come up at half the price you’re hoping for in much much better condition.

  13. As a rough guide, this is what Kais did for mine. Cost £280. Full service, new spring and shock body. Looked like new.

  14. Mine is getting the same as you did. Service, body and spring. Costs are the same in €. Here the pics pre service. Shock is still in service at the mo.
