1299 Ohlins Ttx Shock Springs On Standard Sachs Shock

  1. Been trying lots of suspension specialists to see if I could get a lighter shock springs for the standard sachs rear shock but no one seams to list them

I decided to take off the spring and see if I could source them by measurement.

Spring length 162mm ID is 52.5mm and from my internet research the rate is 90Nm.

I had to had a set of TTX springs from my daytona 675.

    Spring length 158mm ID 51.5mm

From this table I found elsewhere it looks like I need a 75Nm rate as I am 65kgs.

Rider Weight (In Gear) - Spring Rate
    150 Lbs. - 75Nm
    170 Lbs. - 80Nm
    190 Lbs. - 85Nm
    210 Lbs. - 90Nm
    230 Lbs. - 95Nm
    250 Lbs. - 100Nm

    Luckily I already had a 75Nm spring

So all I need to do is make it fit. Looking at the top and bottom shock mounting collars, I figured I could just skim 1mm off them.

5 minutes on the lathe ... job done

and hey presto - I now have a bunch of springs I can try.

If anyone else wants this done - happy to oblige.

Ohlins springs from Kais Suspension were originally around £80 each including postage.

  3. Does your shock guard no longer fit or is that just for reference? JoeP was telling me that the Ohlins is MUCH fatter

  4. hello - I left the shock guard off as I'm playing with the preload at the minute. The standard Sachs spring is 90Nm. I have a 90Nm Ohlins TTX spring and its virtually the same as the Sachs standard one .. actually 1mm thinner. The one in the picture i have put in is a 75Nm ohlins spring which is a lot thinner.

  5. Ah of course I didn't think it would vary, makes total sense
