Hi, Will an Ohlins steering damper from a zx10r (2011 if it matters) fit my 1098? I'm thinking I just need a different fitting kit from Harris or somewhere. Am I right in assuming the damper itself are fairly interchangeable? Thanks Ben
Welcome to Performance Parts UK Limited, Suppliers of Specialist Performance Components, including parts from Akrapovich, Gilles, Remus, ASV, Sprint, DGale, Galfer, Supersprox, Zero Gravity, Hyper Pro, and many others. Are the people to talk to chum I had a hyperpro 1 on my 996 far Better quality than standard Ohlins IMHO Cheers Paul
Check the max extended and closed lengths. Some I tried were too long and foul or too short and would reach
i can give you the sizes from the zx10 r damper tomorrow as there are a few kicking about at work. then just compare the measurements for a 1098 damper. i've just been through all the damper business for my 848 non evo. harris also do / did kits for them.
Brilliant cheers for that bettes. I'll wait for the measurements and also see if I can get a fitting kit in the mean time.
no problem! and don't be surprised if i accidentally find one kicking about in the back of my van on the way home tomorrow. (only joking!)
If you check put the ohlins site it gives you the dimensions, so you can then see what other models like r6 may fit
i sometimes think so... i work for an escalator company vulcanising handrails. but my gaffer has a race bike team and keeps all his bikes upstairs where i sometimes work, when not on the road fitting the handrails.
According to the website the stroke difference is 3mm. Can't see that being a big problem. The zx10r has stroke of 65 mm The 1098 has stroke of 68mm Just depends on the fixing points I suppose but that shouldn't matter with a 1098 Harris fitting kit I'm thinking. I'll call them tomorrow.
Depends if you have a bracket already there or not, eg 848 is like that, the evo doesn't need lower bracket just the holding bracket as it fixes to existing mount. Think mine cost me £40
Mine is different to that. Mine has a fixing arm on the right. Just need a central fixing kit hopefully. They have a Ducati one on the Harris website but then list a few models but no mention of 1098.
Harris Damper Kits That is the kit, says for Ducati but then list only a few models. Looks like it should fit tho.
Yep give them a call and tell them the model and they send the right one, think you get choice of colour too
